My dog first entered my life in a time where my family was transitioning to living in a new state and town. She is one of the reasons I believe that helped us all remain happy even on the tough days. She has been there for many birthdays and graduations and she never fails to miss a family meal. She has taught me a lot and it's these three gifts of laughter, unconditional love, and patience that make me so thankful to have her in my life.
Three gifts my dog gave me:
Laughter. Some of my happiest moments involve you, Lucy. You have always been able to put a smile on my face and make me laugh no matter the circumstance. From stealing my socks and running crazy around the house to playing fetch. (Even though I'm the one fetching). You have a personality like no other dog I've met and I adore everything about you.
Unconditional Love. I never get tired of being greeted by you when I come home. No matter how long I'm gone whether it's a few school weeks or just a couple of days you never fail to be waiting at the door for me. I especially love it when you cuddle with me out of your own will, that's when I know it's real! Lu you are always there, even when I leave a room you follow and it's those things that make me so thankful for you. I love you with my whole heart and it's nice to know you do the same.
Patience. As you get older it seems like you are reverting to your puppy phase and needing round the clock attention. Even though you have to have special eating times and a bed for your hips you still act as you would before. You remind me that yes you might take a little longer to do things but it doesn't mean you aren't willing and capable. You try so hard and make me and my family so happy even when you relentlessly beg at the dinner table. You continuously show us new things in your doggy way and have left the biggest print on our hearts. Your sassy cute self is was keeps us going and we are so so blessed to have a pup like you.
