Okay, so pumpkin spice has returned to major coffee franchises and, of course, everyone is extremely excited about it! Well, not everyone. Some people are even boycotting it i guess? Like this guy:

I mean yeah, it is a bit early but come on, don't try and ruin my fall mood. Clearly he must be joking (or he's just a monster). Okay, that aside, the burning questions that so many people have are: Why are we so obsessed with pumpkin spice coffee? and, Why does it make us want to ditch our summer shorts and t-shirts for leggings and sweaters? Well I have a few Ideas:

It makes us excited for Autumn.

So many of us crave the crisp fall weather when we can wear cute comfortable sweaters and scarves outside without actually freezing from the winter quite yet. The leaves change and look absolutely beautiful, and not to mention all of the fall activities that we can do. Like pumpkin patches! This coffee screams "take me on a stroll through the leaves".

The coffee is literally nostalgia in a cup.

It reminds us of times with family and friends through the holidays and fun things we have done. Some of the strongest forms of memory come from scent and taste, so clearly this coffee is triggering good memories from the past!

It makes us want to curl up in some blankets.

Maybe it's just me, but when I drink this coffee I want to be sitting on my couch watching Hocus Pocus under like 5 blankets.

It isn't around for that long.

Maybe we like it so much because it's only available for a short period of time? But I don't think I get as excited for Peppermint flavored coffee as much as I do pumpkin so I'm not too sure about this one..

Some addictive property?

I'm not really sure but maybe there's some weird addictive flavoring/sugar inside of it that makes us want it so bad. You never know with all the preservatives, GMOs, and weird stuff anymore. I don't know I'm not a scientist/psychologist.

It's just good man.

Truly I just think pumpkin anything is the most amazing flavor in the world. Who first started using pumpkin in foods? Because whoever they were, they are now my hero.

Whether you like pumpkin spice or not, or you think it is too early to bring it back, I truly don't care. I just know I'm happy about it and yes I will be taking stereotypical Instagram photos of my Starbucks PSL.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
