Why Country Music Does It Best

There’s nothing like country music. You can be driving around your friends with all the windows down and the sun on your face, sitting in your room with the lights off after a heartbreak, or at a concert outside on a warm summer night with a crisp breeze surrounded by people that all share a love for the same music -- wherever you are, country music will be there too.

Country music reminds you of who you are. Whether it’s a song about your hometown, your mom, your first truck, or your first beer, there’s a song that reminds you of the special place that it holds in your life. It brings you down to earth and reminds you of your roots and your never ending thankfulness for the good things in your life, big and small.

"It's that elm shade, red rust clay you grew up on, that plowed up ground that your dad damned his luck on." - Dirt - Florida Georgia Line

Country music shows you love. It’s not just any kind of love. It’s a genuine love that reminds you of the feelings you had for your first crush while reminding you of the love you have now, all while reminding you of the love you want and deserve. These songs are much more than songs about sex and hook-ups; they’re about falling in love, making love, pushing through love, and loving love, pulling at your heartstrings with every lyric.

"What I can't see is how I'm ever gonna love you more, but I've said that before." - Then - Brad Paisley

Country music is meaningful. It’s hard to find lyrics as meaningful and expressive as those found in country songs. The singers’ stories and personal feelings show making the songs real and significant, convincing you that they’re your twin because of how well their song relates to your life.

"She said, "I don't think I can do this anymore." He took her in his arms and said "That's what my love is for." When you’re weak, I’ll be strong, and when you let go, I’ll hold on." - I'm Gonna Love You Through It - Martina McBride

Country music can be about anything and everything. While there are songs about trucks, tractors, and beer, there are also songs that were written from every other emotion experienced in life -- love, loss, happiness, and heartbreak. Their words can be inspiring, emotional, silly, or fun. There are songs that’ll be holding your hand through a breakup, ones to help you unwind from a long week, and ones that accompany you through drunken weekend nights.

"Raise your glasses for a toast to a little bit of chicken fried, and cold beer on a Friday night, a pair of jeans that fit just right, and the radio up" - Chicken Fried - Zac Brown Band

Country music brings an infinitely large group of people together. Whether you’re a middle schooler or a grandparent, the southern drawl of a country song speaks to the masses. At a country concert, you’ll see a much larger age variety than at a pop or hip-hop concert, and there’s no better singing your heart out to your favorite country song next to a guy who could be your dad doing the same exact thing.

"We got cowboy boots and camo pants. Yeah, we're just alike. Hey, ain't we, dad?" - Watching You - Rodney Atkins

Country music is everywhere. It’s loved all over the country, and you know that wherever you go and whatever song you’re singing, someone will be singing it right along with you. Whether you’re in the north, south, east, or west, there will be a country station. It stands for a deep and strong love for America and unites people like no other.

"There ain't no doubt in my mind, country must be country wide." - Country Must Be Country Wide - Brantley Gilbert

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
