"You're my right hand. You're my go to." I don't think Drake was singing about his sister (if he has one), but my sister fits those lyrics for me. There are plenty of things that I could never live without. Most of them being the basics, but one really big thing I could not live without is my sister. If you know me, you know my sister. Cause well, she's my right hand.
Growing up I always had a playmate. She was there for me when I wanted to play with Polly Pocket, play Crash Bandicoot on the PlayStation or raise hell playing outside. While playing outside caused me to break my wrist, she was there to save me. Growing up meant different games. I sat on the bleachers for six years cheering her on while she was on the court, and she drove around in a golf cart for four years for me. Now while in college, she's my dance partner, my late night driver, study/workout buddy and my guide on how to college correctly.
Having a sister gave me a "go-to" for life. When I couldn't handle our parents, she was right there with me. When I struggled in school, she helped me with every step. When friends were a headache, she took my mind off the drama. When boys were just sucking, she held me while I cried. When anyone messed with me, she was never scared to cuss them out. No question or struggle will ever be too hard for her to help me with. No secret will ever be too dark and no mistake will ever be too embarrassing for us to share. My closest and her closet are one, even though we will complain when the other one works that shirt better. And she's the one person who will be completely honest with me.
"Don't hate me but your face is kind of orange." "You need to straight up friend zone him." "That outfit is ugly." "You know you only like him because he's hot, stop talking to him." "How are you still eating?"
I could never see anyone else in this life as my absolute best friend. God made us sisters so that we could find ourselves with each other. Without my sister I would have no one to annoying our parents with, no one to yell "suh dude" at everyone with, no one to go to concerts with and no one to cuddle with when sad. I see you by my side the day I say "I do," the day we both have our own families and I'm the best aunt ever, and the day we are both in wheelchairs still laughing at all the stupid videos we take. Not a day goes by that I am not thankful for how great of a sister I have and reminded how I could not survive without my best friend. Thank you for being you, which is also a little bit of me.
"A sister is God's way of proving He doesn't want us to walk alone."
