It's not just a cheesy quote on graduation cards.

Everyone will tell you that the four years you spend in college will be the best four years of your life, and after spending 5 days in college, I already completely agree. Let's just start with the most universal and relatable part of going to college: living in a dorm. Living in a dorm gives you the unavoidable ability to meet new people every day. In dorms, there is no way to avoid meeting at least one person a day just in your building alone. For example, today I met 2 new people, both extremely attractive boys, one in the elevator and one doing laundry. So, if you ask me, it's going pretty great with the whole meeting new people aspect. Living in dorms also gives you a true expectation for life after college and living your own. Yes, I do have 3 suitemates, and we all share a bathroom and a living area, but other than that and those moments of meeting people, you're pretty much on your own and trying to figure out how to survive without your parents there to coach you through everything. Dorms also give you a wonderful learning experience for preparing to deal and live with people who are nothing like you. Whether with organization skills, clothing style, religion, or even language, you must learn to coexist with someone that is not your replica.

Another amazing part of college is the campus; now, no matter the location of where you attend college, each college has its' own nightlife, daytime life, and society. The campus itself is like its own little town with all of the students and professors as its inhabitants. And with living on campus, you are able to enjoy a sense of freedom and realness that's not capable of being felt while in high school. You are free to pretty much do whatever you want (as long as it's not illegal) and express yourself however you choose to do so. There is no dress code and there are no cliques; yes, there are friend groups, but when you're a freshman, there are about 200 other people in the same exact boat as you when it comes to not having friends that are not going to turn down a conversation. College is just a place to be free and explore yourself and who you really want to be.

The last great part about college is the professors; these people have the ability to show you things a high school teacher can't. Now I'm not saying that high school teachers suck and can't teach. I'm just saying that college professors have the ability to open your eyes to a realness and ideas that most high school teachers can't show you. Your professors will not sit there and coddle you and hold your hand, they will teach you to speak up for yourself and to be independent and to create your own ideas on concepts and share them. You have the ability to think freely and choose what you want to discuss in college because you're an adult. There is no possible way that they can tell you what to think about, how to think about it, and what exactly you should say as not to offend anyone. Your thoughts are capable of growing completely unbiased and without being persuaded and sculpted into something else, you are free to thin as you want to think and you professors are there to help encourage that level of thinking.

So I know I've only been in college for 5 days and that I've barely even dipped my toes into the ocean of what is college, but I am truly an avid believer in the fact that college will be the best 4 years of life. And I have 1,455 days left of these four years to continue to convince you as well.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
