Why College Is Better Than High School
Wagner

I just want to start out by saying that college is WAY better than high school. I am writing this article to assure all of the incoming freshman that you will have a blast in college. I remember just a year ago when I was going into my freshman year, how incredibly nervous I was. Here are several reasons why college is better than high school:

1. Classes

In college you can pick from a variety of different courses to fulfill a credit, for example art can be fulfilled by drawing, writing fiction, and even fashion courses. The fact that we get to pick our classes makes school that much more enjoyable. You even get to pick the times too!

2. Never being bored

There are so many activities going on all the time, other than just going out. Every weekend my school puts on activities such as a concert, open mic night, a carnival, and even game nights.

3. Getting involved

Everyone has something to do all the time whether it is a club, Greek life, sports, and many more. My college has 100+ clubs and they are always adding new ones. There is bound to be something for you to join.

4. No judgement

When I was in high school, I would wake up at 6 a.m. to shower, apply a full face of makeup and even curl my hair sometimes. However, in college I wake up about 15 minutes before my classes and throw on a pair of sweatpants. Nobody will judge what you're wearing because everyone is in comfortable clothes.

5. There is no "popular crowd"

Since there are thousands of students (number depends on your school), there will NOT be one group that stands out among the others. Everyone is significantly friendlier in college also since everyone wants to make a lot of friends. You will find your place.. I promise.

6. Traveling

There is a often a study abroad program for nearly every major. Some programs focus on one country while others you tour many. If you're interested in traveling this is 100% an opportunity for you.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
