Why I Chose CHAARG And You Should, Too
CHAARG

Entering college, I knew I wanted to join something that would keep me active and make me part of a strong, fun, group of women I could depend on as friends. And then I found CHAARG.

For those of you who don't know what CHAARG is, it's a women's fitness group, which has been liberating women from the elliptical and [C.hanging H.eatlh, A.ttitudes + A.ctions to R.ecreate G.irls] for a few years now, and has been exposing collegiate women to different forms of fun + fit living!

Since joining and embracing all that CHAARG has to offer, I've come to find that it really is such an amazing way to get in shape and find friends along the way. There are weekly group workouts, that are not only insanely fun, but are also serious workouts that make you break a sweat and keep you sore the next day (or two)! I've also come to find that the lifestyle change I have been meaning to make for many years isn't as hard when I have a support system of a hundred gorgeous, strong ladies behind me in my local chapter, and thousands behind me in my fit plans!

The thing about CHAARG is that it really is part of the support and encouragement I needed to get my lifestyle to be what I've always wanted it to be, or at least get me on the path to that. And just now getting into the swing of serious workouts and exploring different types of fitness, that's pretty scary. But having the ladies of my chapter behind me, supporting me, and cheering me on in group workouts is seriously helping me.

It's helping me to become more confident in my abilities.

It's helping me to be even more excited about fitness than I already was.

It's helping me to grow; not only as a woman in her workouts, but as a woman in our community.

It's helped me realize the support I always needed is totally here, in this group.

So what I'm trying to say is this: If you're a collegiate lady who loves fitness, or needs support and fun when trying to alter your fitness lifestyle, this is the place you need to go. The place where you're always encouraged to have fun and get healthy. The place where you have all of the accountability buddies you could ever ask for. The place where you can CHAARG-on.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
