I've been going to the Cape most summers since I was a little kid and it's hard to think of reasons why it's not one of the best places to vacation. There is never a shortage of things to do and it's one of the most beautiful places in the northeast. Here are a few reasons why families should give it a go.
The Beaches

Besides being stunningly beautiful, they're the perfect place to just sit and relax. You can walk for miles or swim all day. They're also the best place to watch the sunrise and sunset or to enjoy a little bonfire with your friends and family.
The Lakes
Two words: water sports. You can kayak, paddle board, windsurf, jet ski, sail, canoe, fish, waterski, wake board and about a million other activities on the dozens of lakes in the Cape. You can also hike around most of the lakes and just enjoy the view. It's the best place to spend the day.
Nickerson State Park
If you love camping or want to try it out, Nickerson is an extremely scenic and clean campground. It books up quickly, so you have to plan in advance, but it offers anything you could want while on vacation.
Provincetown
Looking for an insanely good time or just to do a little shopping? Provincetown offers it all. I would always come here to shop for souvenirs, but it's also just a fun place to spend the day. There's amazing restaurants and beaches and the night life is crazy as well.
The Bike Trails

Even if you're not into biking, you'll still enjoy the Cape Cod Rail Trail. The path is only 22 miles long. You can bike through a number of towns on the Cape. You can stop in Chatham or Brewster for lunch. It's an easy way to explore the Cape...besides, it's always good to get a little exercise.
Whale Watching
This was always one of my favorite activities as a kid, especially when my biggest dream was to become a marine biologist. If you're into wildlife and the ocean this is one of the most fun things to do.
Chatham

Another great and historic town to visit on the Cape. The restaurants are to die for and it's just a quaint little town to explore.
