13 Reasons Why Older Sisters Are The Best Type Of Sibling To Have

Many people usually say that they want an older brother to watch out and protect the younger sister, to big the bad tough guy whenever the younger sister is hurt. However, the skills that us older sisters have to offer to our younger brothers are just as good as a big brother has to offer to a younger sister.

1. My taste in fashion is so much better!

I know what looks good on you. I know what the girl you’re taking out tonight will be wearing so you don’t over or underdress. Trust me, I’ve been there.

2. My creeping skills are top notch.

In five minutes, at the most we will know her full name, where she goes to school, who her friends are, and what she likes to do.

3. When you are upset, I can be just as upset as you are.

We’re girls. We cry a lot. Get over it, but I will listen to why you’re sad as long as you return the favor. But, you can’t get mad at me when I poke and pry to figure out the real reason why you’re up. All I am doing is looking out for you. I want you happy.

4. I will make you dinner when it’s just us.

When our parents go out and leave us stranded without food I will figure out something for us to eat, even if it is a frozen pizza. But apparently thinking about putting a frozen pizza in the oven is a daunting task and you can’t do it yourself, don’t worry. I got your back.

5. I know what girls want to hear.

I know what I want to hear from a boy, I know what that girl you’ve been texting back and forth wants to hear from you, just make sure you mean it. If she’s being moody, I can probably think of multiple ways to cheer her up. I’ll let you take credit for my idea, just make sure to bring me some ice cream and you’re done settling things with her.

6. I will make sure to be a great role model.

I gave, and will continue to give you, goals to reach for. I will show you that it’s OK to disagree with our parents. I will let you know how to disagree with others in the right way and how to stand up for what you believe in. Just because I am trying to be your role model, I don’t want you to have to feel like you need to be like me to please others. Do what you want to do, but if your lost in what is right and wrong, come to me for advice.

7. I will help you with all things related to school.

I know what teachers you want and what ones to avoid. How to pass his/her class. How to pass the class whether it’s helping you study or helping you do the exact same project I did two years ago. I will show you how to find all those scholarships you’re going to need and how to survive college when it comes to that time.

8. I will always cover for you.

You were suppose to take out the garbage before mom and dad came home, but instead you were staring at your phone for countless hours playing your weird war game. Don’t worry, I’ll say that you put the dishes away for me and I said I would take the garbage out for you but forgot because I was busy doing other chores.

9. I’ll be patient when you have your freak out diva moment.

For no apparent reason you will get angry and slam doors and stop your feet through the house. You’ll be silent or mumble something under your breath. I wont say anything to you until you have cooled down, but when you’re calm again, expect me to make fun of your freak out moment for at least the rest of the day.

10. Help you meet older people and friends.

I know all the guys and girls older than you. I’ll make sure that you seem so much cooler than what you actually are so the older guys will invite you over and the older girls will swoon over you, just stay away from my best friend.

11. I will always be there to remind you of your obligations for the upcoming days.

You know that I know everything that us as a family have going on, but I also know what you have to do even if you don’t remember telling me. Anything from school work, your work schedule, your social schedule. I know everything.

12. I am the best co-pilot.

I will make sure you’re following all the rules of the road while also making our twenty-minute ride to the grocery store quite the experience. I will have no problem belting out every single song that you or I play while in the car. I will make you laugh and keep you entertained as you drive. I will give you second hand embarrassment when I record us and put it on either of our Snap Stories.

13. I will always be there for you.

Even when I am mad at you, three hours away, or ignoring your weird, annoying questions, I will always love you and always be here for you. I know it’s hard to talk to others because you have to be too cool for your feelings, but please talk to me. I am here to guide you and make sure you are happy. I am so lucky to have a younger brother like you. I don’t tell you that nearly enough, and I’m sorry, but I love you baby brother.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
