Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve probably read or seen all of the awful events our country has endured these past couple months. Between political fights, racial issues, and even Facebook posts, our country has been more divided than ever. And before a bunch of people band together to tell me whose fault it is and which side is wrong, I’ll cut to the chase.
Everyone, for the most part, is wrong.
This is because each side of whatever issue you’re fighting is spewing hateful comments to the other side then accusing them of being terrible individuals. Now, doesn’t that sound a little ridiculous when you think about it? Which is why I’m here to propose a revolutionary idea of what we as a whole can do about it.
Be a good person.
That’s it. I’m not asking anyone to change their beliefs or ask anyone to suddenly switch sides on what they’re passionate about. I’m just asking you to be a good person. This means respecting other people’s opinions and respecting the fact that we’re all human beings living on this planet for the remainder of our lives. This means caring about everyone and doing small things to show people you care about them.
Even if you don’t care about them. It takes little to no effort to spread love to every individual you come across. Even if it’s something as simple as smiling at the cashier who checks you out or holding the door open for the woman who has her hands full with three kids. You’re not going to agree with everyone you come in contact with because that’s near impossible. But if everyone were to put their differences aside and just fearlessly love everyone they come across, the world would be a much happier place. Pump love into your communities and just be a good person.
The world has enough horrible things happening in it without us taking it out on each other. We don’t need to add to the hate, so next time you see a Facebook post you don’t agree with or you want to hate on someone else’s beliefs, remember that makes you no better than what you’re striving to fight against.
