In today's hook up culture, standards for qualification of a significant other are rising, trusting someone gets harder and harder, and getting someone to commit is out of the question. And you’re constantly left wondering if you’re good enough. Lord knows we’ve all been there, thinking we’re not pretty enough, not smart enough, not skinny enough. Which is why I chose to ignore that, and focus on my sense of humor, a quality you can never go wrong with strengthening. I take personal pride in how I carry myself, and it makes life a lot more bearable if you can crack a few jokes along the way.
It makes you fun to be around. When people can learn that you’re a light hearted person and that you don’t tend to take things too serious, you attract all kinds of people: people who are boring and need someone to make them feel like they’re not, people who are also funny but need someone else to make the jokes for a while, a few stoners here and there, and just about everything in between. It makes life fun, easy, carefree. While I’m not killing it with a perfect 4.0 (literally nowhere close), and my abs have the best winter coat you’ve ever seen, I can at least show that it’s not important, and it brings you closer to people who enjoy looking at life that way too.
Best part about having a lighthearted personality: you can deflect just about an awkward situation. Like when you get called out in a 200 person lecture for talking, or when you meet a new boys sister who thinks you’re “talking” when you clearly in the hook up phase. But, hey, a situation is only as awkward as you make it, right? So as the wise Li'l Wayne once said, “make jokes, live life, love life, proceed, progress,” because in truth, you’re looks will fade, your intellect will weaken with age, and your talents will die hard. But a great sense of humor and wit is and always will be my best and greatest thing about me.
