Why April Fool's Day is the Worst Holiday

Let me start by saying this: I hate April Fool's Day. Absolutely hate it. It is the worst "holiday" that we have. Actually, it is one of the worst days ever. I am sure I am not alone in my hatred of this day. However, I do know that there are people out there that really enjoy this day of pranks. I am just not one of them.

Some people are comedians, and I respect that. Everyone needs a good laugh now and then. Some people are pranksters. I also respect that. Again, everyone needs a good laugh now and then. However, I think that cramming as many pranks and practical jokes into one day as you can is not very amusing - especially when it is a set day that everyone recognizes as the day that they should constantly be on edge because people will be rearing to play as many practical jokes on people as they can.

However, there are people out there - I admit that i am one of them - that hate having practical jokes played on them. There are also people out there that have anxiety, and having a practical joke placed on them can send them into an anxiety attack. This is one of the biggest reasons as to why I think that April Fool's Day is the worst day of the year. People do not take the time to take into consideration what mental illnesses someone may have, what fears someone might have, or what sensitivities someone might have.

There are many people out in the world that have mental illnesses such as anxiety, and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). For people will mental illnesses - such as myself - April Fool's Day can very easily send them into an anxiety attack. April Fool's Day already has people on edge, and as a result, can lead to someone having higher levels of anxiety.

Another reason as to why I think that April Fool's Day is the worst day of the year is because I really do not like it when practical jokes are played on me. Usually, the practical jokes that I have seen are ridiculous. They are practical jokes that someone else has played. They are practical jokes that can very easily go horribly wrong. They are practical jokes that can very easily hurt someone - not just physically, but mentally as well.

April Fool's Day can be a very dangerous day. Many people are hurt, many lose friends, and many do everything they can to avoid the day. Some people will fake pregnancies, fake a breakup with their partner, or even fake a serious illness, such as cancer.

Play it safe. Do not participate in April Fool's Day. Not participating in this "holiday" is a smart decision - not only for your safety, but for the safety of others as well.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
