It was Madeleine Albright who said, “There is a special place in hell for women who don’t help other women,” on behalf of Hillary Clinton. In certain contexts, yes, she could very much be correct. However, to say that Hillary Clinton should be supported by women because she is a woman contradicts the feminist movement, that is putting her above everyone else because of her sex! The presidency should be awarded based on policy and social stances, not sex, and if anyone has ever listened to the things Hillary says, they will know that Hillary is not always the most constant and truthful.
My favorite Hillaryism, particularly because it is pretty laughable, would have to be the multiple instances she has publicly announced that she was met with sniper fire upon arriving to Bosnia in 1996. However, upon a short viewing of the videos of her arrival, you can see that she did not have to duck and run to her vehicle, but rather stays on the tarmac and greets her welcoming party. Just Google “Hillary Bosnia Video,” you can see for yourself. Her justification for this lie was that she was sleep-deprived in the most popular video, however there are several times that she made these statements apart from when she was severely tired. This is a matter of just flat out imagination.
Perhaps some of the least laughable of her statements, because she is running on a liberal feminist platform, are her statements towards gay marriage, women, and African Americans. In the past, she has been recorded saying that she believes in traditional marriage, however she now believes in marriage equality. But, you know, that is an opinion that can easily be changed. I, myself, know people who have changed their minds on same sex marriage. Hillary is now an advocate for women’s rights. However, back when the Clinton scandal was in full swing, Hillary stated that the women that made sexual assault allegations against her husband would be investigated and have a lot to answer for. That does not sound like a woman helping another woman. Hillary was cited making this statement while advocating for the bill blamed for mass incarceration: “It's not just gangs of kids anymore, they are often the kids of kids that are called super-predators… first we have to bring them to heel.” While it may seem unbiased, the term super-predators had been adopted by Republicans and the Clintons used to identify African American kids. An individual can change their mind about many things over the course of time, but Hillary was no confused teen that rethought her stances as an adult. She made her statements as an adult and she continues to conveniently change them as a presidential hopeful
Even with all of her more popular lies, along with her stating she never supported mass incarceration or NAFTA when she was a strong advocate for it, make it all the more clear that Hillary Clinton is only in this race for one person: herself. Do we want a female president? Of course! However, should we elect a woman to presidency based on the sole fact that she is a women, especially when she has been cited contradicting a large amount of the statements that she has made? Definitely not. Hillary adjusts herself, very well I might add, to the different crowds that she addresses, but do not be fooled. This is not about sex and, I’m sorry, Hillary, but a uterus does not guarantee my vote. It shouldn’t guarantee yours, either.
