Since I was a kid, "Aladdin" has always been my favorite Disney movie. To this day it is still my favorite Disney movie, but I hardly know anyone else who would consider it their favorite too. Here’s why "Aladdin" is my favorite Disney movie and why it should be yours too!

1. Aladdin is kind of hot

Let’s just get this one out of the way first since it’s a little embarrassing to admit. Despite Aladdin being a animated character, I had a crush on him when I was little. What made this even better was the actors who play Aladdin at Disneyland always meet expectations produced from the movie. Plus a few years after seeing Aladdin, when I started watching Full House, I realized that Steve from that show was the voice of Aladdin, life changing.

2. The movie has great songs

There may only be six songs in this movie, but they are all great. I have always loved the songs in Aladdin. One Jump Ahead, Friend Like Me, Prince Ali. I mean, come on. And of course there’s A Whole New World, which is pretty much a classic at this point.

3. The focus is not on the princess, but rather the guy who isn’t even a prince

Nothing against most other Disney movies that focus on the princess, but I have always loved that that was not the main focus of this movie. Aladdin isn’t even a prince and even when he pretends to be one, he realizes that it’s not important. He is a regular person, making him more relatable and more real.

4. It features a character written specifically for Robin Williams

Robin Williams was one of the most incredible actors ever and the role of the Genie was written for him specifically. That’s amazing! He is truly magical in this role and makes the movie that much better.

5. It shows the importance of keeping your word

When Aladdin meets the Genie and finds out that he is a prisoner in the lamp, he promises to use his last wish to free him. In the end of the movie, Genie even suggests that Aladdin use his last wish to become a prince permanently so he can be with Jasmine, but Aladdin uses his wish, as promised, to free Genie.

6. It shows that socioeconomic differences shouldn’t be a limitation

Aladdin uses his wish to become a prince so that he can pursue Princess Jasmine. He does this because being who he is and her being who she is makes it impossible for him to end up with her because of laws in place. In the end though the Sultan changes the law and makes it so Princess Jasmine does not have to marry a prince. True love truly does conquer all limitations in this story.

7. It emphasizes the importance of telling the truth and being yourself

In the movie, Aladdin makes a wish to become a prince so that he can be with Princess Jasmine. Despite his goal, Princess Jasmine does not take interest in him as a prince the way she did when they met before. It is only when she finds out the truth about who he is that she truly falls for him.

These are the reason why Aladdin is my favorite Disney movie. I encourage you to re-watch it and consider these things so it can become a favorite of yours as well!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
