Throughout gaming history, it was common to see a slimmer version of gaming consoles in the middle of their generation. However, if you pick the Nintendo Switch, Playstation 4 Pro or the Xbox Scorpio you are a part of history since there has never mid-generation release where the consoles receive such a massive hardware upgrade. The sheer power of the Nintendo Switch, Playstation 4 Pro, and Xbox One Scorpio set 2017 as the year the performance void between PC and console gaming began to be filled.

The other huge factor that is making 2017 one the most crucial years in gaming history is the fact that there is such a huge line-up of games to still be released within the year. It is hard for gamers not to be excited for 2017 when there are games such as the next installment of the injustice franchise as well as highly anticipated Destiny 2. 2017 also brought us the announcement of the next Call Of Duty Game being themed around World War 2, which is a huge deal considering the Call Of Duty franchise is struggling to stick with gamers like past Call Of Duty games.

Horizon Zero Dawn was so visually amazing that it has completed raised the bar to visual standards in video games. The veteran game developer, Naughty Dogs, has even expressed the fact that they are using the visuals used in Horizon Zero Dawn to push their team in hopes of producing a new game with even better visuals. What will ultimately place 2017 in gaming history is the fact that the games being released in 2017 are inspiring the games we will see in the future.

As we make our way through 2017, the year has really brought some good change to the gaming industry. The number a people who play video games is at an all-time high and video games are reaching levels never before seen.
