1. You're sober, and everyone else isn't
There's a reason drunk people travel in groups, and why hardly anyone enjoys being the designated driver, which is because, to put it simply, drunk people are annoying. This isn't so much a problem when everyone else is drunk too: they're on the same level and can't tell. It's only when you're in a normal state of mind that the alcohol-induced shouting, laughter, and general hoopla has the potential to become very annoying very fast.
2. You are aware of how bad your dancing is
If you go out to a club, one of the biggest things you're going to be doing is dancing. For some people, like me, dancing isn't necessarily a strong suit. But when you've got the help of alcohol this doesn't really matter. It helps to loosen you up a bit, and besides you really don't care. When you're sober your dancing skills don't have that little extra help that everyone else around you has. And the more aware of that you are, the more awkward it feels, and then the more awkward your
dancing becomes, and the cycle continues.
3. That cute outfit suddenly feels like too little and too out of place
When you go out, you want to look cute. You spend forever with your friends trying to pick out just the right outfit and putting on makeup and doing your hair. Some people (not everyone, some people are lucky enough to have some pretty strong confidence) might use alcohol to give themselves a boost of fake confidence. When you don't have that, however, you might leave the house feeling great, but end the night with your hair all frizzy and makeup running down your face feeling gross. And, unlike the drunk people around you, you are all too aware of how you look.
4. The creepy guys just seem so much more creepy
There's just something about the way guys act at a club that's unsettling, and when you're sober enough to realize and acknowledge it, it just seems all the more creepy.
6. Seriously, being sober among a bunch of drunk people is like being around a bunch of big, stumbling, out-of-control children
I know this is a repeated point, but it still stands. Being sober around a bunch of drunk people isn't fun and very rarely leads to a good time. Sure, it depends on how much everyone else around you has had to drink, but that number is normally really high at a club where normally the entire purpose is to get drunk. Maybe it's just me, but I really don't understand the appeal of going to an 18 and over club when you're under 21 and surrounding yourself with a bunch of drunk partiers.
