The most controversial music awards show, the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), has just released its list of the 2016 nominees. Beyoncé has come out on top in terms of nominations with videos in eleven categories. Adele is in second with an impressive eight nominations for her most successful video of all time, "Hello." However, viewers of the annual program have learned to expect the unexpected. It's time to exercise your right to vote and help MTV decide who will win the top performance-based awards.

Recent winners of Video of The Year have been determine based on three criteria: controversy (Britney's "Piece of Me" in 2008), empowerment (Beyonce's "Single Ladies" in 2009), and how viral the video went (Miley's "Wrecking Ball" in 2014). Justin Bieber's "Sorry" accomplished none of the above, so it's safe to assume he will not be taking home this award. Kanye West's "Famous" was perhaps the most controversial song/video of the first half of 2016 for all the wrong reasons. Unfortunately for West, the Kanye vs Taylor vs Kim vs Chloe vs Khloe vs Selena vs Demi vs Ruby vs Katy feud overshadowed the actual video's release. The top three contenders this year are Beyoncé's "Formation," Adele's "Hello," and Drake's "Hotline Bling." All three songs received a generous amount of airplay and were major conversation topics during their release month. However, "Formation" suits today's growing conversation surrounding police brutality and the #BlackLivesMatter movement. It didn't go nearly as viral "Hotline Bling" or "Hello," but it is a definite fan-favorite and the most progressive video of the year.

Who Should Win: Beyoncé – "Formation"
Beyoncé will also definitely take home the award for Breakthrough Long Form Video with the well-received "Lemonade"

Unlike Video of the Year, this category generally comes down to how enjoyable and catchy the song/video is. Beyoncé is a two-time consecutive winner of this category with her vintage hits "Crazy In Love," and "Naughty Girl," though this year's nominee "Hold Up" doesn't quite hold a flame to her older commercial successes. Adele's "Hello" is a safe choice, but will most likely come in second to Rihanna's chart-topping Spring hit "Work." The song's slurred lyrics and reggae-influenced beats had the entire internet singing along, whether we knew what she was saying or not.

Who Should Win: Rihanna ft. Drake – "Work" (short version)
Rihanna will also most likely take home the moon man for Best Collaboration either for "Work" or "This is What You Came For" with Calvin Harris

"This Is What You Came For" doesn't stand a chance. Although the video was quite striking, and America would watch Rihanna do anything, it's really hard for fans to consider this a Male Video. The Weeknd's "Can't Feel My Face" is just a little too old-news for fans to still throw awards at, and Bryson Tiller isn't quite mainstream enough to garner enough attention for "Don't" to win. That leaves our two biggest contenders: "Hotline Bling" and "Famous." "Hotline Bling" is the obvious winner in terms of commercial success, longevity, and cultural impact. However, MTV very may well stir the pot and give this one to West for pure shock value.

Who Should Win: Drake – "Hotline Bling"
"Hotline Bling" is also a front-runner for Best Hip Hop Video

This category is a chance at redemption for Adele's "Hello." Based on previous winners, its biggest competition is Justin Bieber's make-up track "Sorry." In year's past, Best Pop Video has often gone to top ten hits such as Selena Gomez's "Come And Get It," but rarely to the biggest video of the year. However, Taylor Swift's win for "Blank Space" last year proves that you don't need an underdog of a video to snatch the moon man. If tides truly are changing, "Hello" is the clear front-runner with "Sorry" as a close second.

Who Should Win: Adele – "Hello"

The Best Rock Video has typically been given based on popularity. First-time nominees All Time Low are probably honored to have just been nominated, but don't quite live up to their competition considering their fizzled fame and lack of airplay. Newly-mainstream duo twenty one pilots only stand a chance thanks to their young cult following and connections to the much-anticipated "Suicide Squad" film. However, Coldplay seems to be the front-runner given the critical praise of "Adventure Of A Lifetime" and the band's longstanding chart success.

Who Should Win: twenty one pilots – "Heathens"
Who Will Probably Win: Coldplay – "Adventure Of A Lifetime"

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
