Who is winning right now?
Some will say Marvel, and some will say DC. What do I say?
As of right now, and for the past couple of years I will say Marvel wins, hands down! What leads me to think this way? There are quite a few factors.
1. Whomever they cast, to me fits perfectly!! From Robert Downey Jr. to Krysten Ritter.
2. They're TV universe is connected to their movie universe.
3. I am patiently/non patiently waiting for what's coming out next.
4. I own more Marvel movies than DC movies.
5. I play a Marvel based video game called Marvel Contest of Champions on my phone.
6. They made crossovers popular.
7. They took a non popular (well known) group of superheroes and made them lovable, speaking of "Guardians of the Galaxy."
Now while Marvel is winning, DC isn't fully out. DC TV is doing great from "The Flash" to "Legends of Tomorrow" all the way back to "Smallville". My gripe with DC comes mostly with the separation of the movie universe with the TV universe. The other gripe that I have is the casting mostly in the movies. I've watched most of the movies that have come out in the past years, but I haven't left impressed. However when I watch "The Flash", I am in love with every moment that is happening.
The relationships that are a part of the show seem real, not forced, and enjoyable to watch. Because of this, I wish that the people that are in charge of the movie universe would hire the staff that are connected with the success of the TV shows. While Henry Cavill was an enjoyable Superman, I wish they would have gave Tom Welling and the cast of "Smallville" to make a Superman movie.
One thing that I have been hearing in connection with some of the Marvel Netflix series is, the choreography was "ehh", the acting wasn't that great, or it could have been better. I've disagreed with it all. Why?? Mainly because, this is this superhero's introduction. Why do you expect to be great so soon, when they are still discovering them-self? I feel like I always go back to "Smallville", but how long did it take Tom Welling to become Superman?? If you don't know, it took him 10 seasons before he was worthy to wear the cape.
What happens when a Marvel movie comes out for me? Typically I'm seeing it the weekend it or the Tuesday after it comes out. What happens when a DC movie comes out? It might be out for Redbox before I watch it. What happens with DC and Marvel TV? I watch it as soon as I can. I'm excited for the return of "Legends of Tomorrow" even though it won't be until the Fall, and excited for "Agents of Shield" which should be returning to the air soon.
I almost forgot to mention the Batman trilogy with Christian Bale, AWESOME!!! I wish that it didn't end the way that it did. DC isn't horrible, or bad, it's just that I feel Marvel is better.
