Who Are You When No One is Watching?

It might not be pretty.

Who Are You When No One is Watching?

This may seem like a silly question. Well, obviously I am the same person whether someone is watching me or not. If anything I can feel more free. There are certain rules and things we have to follow while in society. For most people, it's usually to be a relatively decent human being, because if you're not you're going to draw a lot of attention towards yourself that most people don't want.

People will even avoid going out of their way to do something nice, or help someone up because the act of doing so puts them in the spotlight and a lot of people don't like the attention. It's so much easier to just blend in with the crowd and watch whatever happen. No need to stand out today, or ever. But the real question is, when you're alone, or there are no consequences--no one will ever know what you're doing--who are you then?

Everyone is someone else when they are alone or in situations where they feel completely comfortable. Some people may kick off their clothes and walk around in their underwear. Maybe nude. Some people will shove all their trash aside, and make room for paper plates and a hungry man dinner, because they don't feel like cooking. You're pretty much free to do whatever you want in your own home, without fear of judgement or people giving a hoot. But their are several other instances where you can have social interaction, while being safe in your safe place, house or otherwise, and so let's talk about those scenarios.

I'm going to just come out and say it--in the world we live in today, with everything going on and the way people react to things, most people are jerks. And that's being nice. Maybe perhaps they aren't really deep down, but all the frustrations and things each person goes through on a daily basis, they must want to take it all out on people when they know nothing will come of it or come right back to them.

I'm an avid gamer. I spend probably too much time on my Xbox at home, but that means I play online a lot, and trust me when I say I have met way too many people who are perfectly fine with trash talking and being utter dill holes all the time. I just don't get it. If these people acted that way in the real world, well hell, in today's world someone would probably kill them. I try to be a cool and collected person and people like this get me so heated, because there's no reason for it. If someone was talking to me like they do online, in front of my face, or to one of my friends or family, I mean, what would you do in that situation? It's all a little ridiculous.

People are also like that in traffic. You'll see people that either really don't care or really don't know how to drive as they blow past you at 100 miles an hour and yell at you like somehow its your fault.

Basically, given the evidence of what I've seen, most people are just waiting to unload and make themselves feel better, and in that moment, when you are free to be whatever you want, it shows your true colors and who you really are deep down. And most of the time, I find that very very scary.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
