Many of us find ourselves gathering around the TV with some type of late-night snack and friends every Monday night. Why? The Bachelor/Bachelorette of course!
The seasons go back and forth between girl and guy contestants, but which do we prefer?
"The Bachelor" has one male, 20+ female contestants, and drama written all over it. Whereas "The Bachelorette" has one female, 20+ male contestants, and some drama.
It has been found that it's more entertaining to watch the drama behind the group of girls each falling for and fighting for the bachelor, rather than watching the group of guys attempting to impress the bachelorette. Also, in most opinions, watching guys fall in love just isn't as entertaining as watching girls fall in love. Women seem to have more of an idea of what they want and their goals in life than guys do. From the first interaction coming out of the limo and meeting the bachelor, the women are already thinking about falling in love, marrying, and planning their life with the bachelor. The men impressing the bachelorette don't have these immediate thoughts until they've fallen in love over time. Love is such a unique aspect of life that takes effort, care, concern, strength, and courage. Women are more eager to jump into love before actually being in love with someone as compared to men.
As a girl myself, I enjoy watching the guys impress the bachelorette as I can only dream of a guy actually going above and beyond for me as they do for her. On the other hand, I find myself very intrigued by the drama some of the girl contestants tend to stir up with one another. In Season 20 of The Bachelor, two women were highly known for their drama. Lace and Olivia, both enjoyed playing games behind what Ben Higgins could see, but this is what kept the show entertaining. If the show was actually just about love without drama, most viewers would not continue watching the entire season from start to finish.
Though this show is all about finding love, not all of the couples even stay together and there is not always a proposal at the finale. No matter which season or drama level, you can still find me on Monday nights with my eyes glued to the TV screen, keeping up with the latest gossip from the show.
