Why is it that every which way I turn, someone is telling me something I need to change something about myself? Whether it's my weight, how I act, how I talk or what I do. Somewhere someone is doing something better than me and I should be more like them... right? Wrong. As I was sitting in my room, begging for something, someone, to give me an idea for what to write a friend texted me. Her text read, "I saw this new chart and for my height in order to be considered medium build I need to lose 20 pounds." I began to rant to her telling her basically, this "new chart" was a crock of sh*t.
This chart says that I am "large build" for my height. I have never been so mad at a chart in my life. In order for me to be considered a medium build I would have to lose TWENTY POUNDS. If I lost twenty pounds, I would fly away.
I absolutely hate the concept of weight. I hate that it is so heavily pushed upon to be skinny. I hate that there is a such thing as "too skinny." I hate that society has become so superficial that no matter what you are, it's impossible to be happy. If you are skinny, you want to be skinnier. If you have meat on your bones, you're fat. Where is the line going to be drawn? When will this stop?
There are days when I look at myself in the mirror and could point out to you SO many things I would love to change all of those opinions come from somewhere else. But, I'm tired of someone else being what forms those opinions of what I have to look like. What's so great about being skinny? What's so great about being exactly like everyone else? Why do we continue to let others tell us what is pretty and what isn't? Why? I'm tired of having society tell me what to be, who to like, what to wear, and what's best for me... I didn't just wake up one day and decide that I wish I had eyebrows that looked like Kendall and Kylie's... the media has created this monster of everyone looking like everyone else and that is so frustrating. Who wants to be in a world full of people who are exactly like each other?
