In times of hardship, many people pray to God, but I find myself asking why there is even strife in this world if God loved his creations. In my lifetime, I have witnessed global poverty, bullying, abuse, rape and school shootings, either through media or first hand. I constantly find myself pondering on why these terrible acts exist if there is a loving God. Some people say its God's way of testing us, but with each passing misfortune, that phrase is becoming harder to believe in.
Where were you
when those children were starving?
Where were you
when they were living in rags?
Where were you
when that child was beaten?
Where were you
when that boy was bullied?
Where were you
when that girl pleaded?
Where were you
when she was violated?
Where were you
when those students got shot?
Where were you
when their parents mourned?
With each passing tear,
I’m losing my faith,
but I want to believe that you still love us
So I’ll ask you again:
Where are you, God?
