Dear FreeForm
First of all, how dare you? You took Dr Seuss’ How The Grinch Stole Christmas off of the 25 days of Christmas schedule and I have never been more disappointed.
Christmas is something I look forward to every year. It’s my reward for making it through another crazy wonderful busy year. It’s my time to celebrate, relax in front of the TV with fuzzy socks and some cookies while my favorite holiday movies play endlessly the entire month of December.
I write down reminders in my calendar whenever my favorites are playing so I wont miss it, but I read and reread the schedule over and over and I kept coming up with the same conclusion: FreeForm had taken away my favorite holiday movie.
I trusted you. I believed in you. I was counting on you.
But you, FreeForm, have let me down.
Christmas is something that as I’ve gotten older has become less and less special. The magical feeling of endless possibilities has declined with every year I live in the real world with real responsibilities. But what keeps me holding on to some kind of Christmas hope is the consistency of watching my childhood favorite Christmas movies.
I know that The Grinch is not the newest coolest best Christmas movie ever, but when I watch it, that feels like Christmas time to me. When I quote line for line the whole movie and sing the songs at the top of my lungs I feel like I’m 8 years old believing that Santa would visit me at night with his reindeer because I had behaved myself all year.
Watching my favorite Christmas movie made me believe in that Christmas is the most perfect day of the year, and everyone could use a perfect day.
I know I especially could now that I’m 12 years older and life is hard. But Christmas doesn’t have to be.
Except that this will be the hardest Christmas ever without watching The Grinch.
All I have to say is “Where are you Christmaaaaaaaaaas?”
Sincerely,
Your saddest viewer.
