"Where Is That On The Map?"

We are all from different areas no doubt, but step into the life of a small town kid.

"Where Is That On The Map?"

Growing up in a rural area was very beneficial at times but in the same sense I feel like it wasnt how it supposed to be. Coushatta, Louisiana is the town I was raised in. Coushatta a is located in Northwest Louisiana about 45 minutes away from Shreveport Louisiana. This place was interesting at times but mostly it was BORING. Being that i was always bored for a hobby or pass time I would often just sit outside and watch 18 wheelers past and catapult rocks at them. That was soon short-lived when I heard the sharp shattering of glass trickle on side of the pavement, but you see my point. So with that being said, here are some disadvantages and advantages of living n a rural area.

The first disadvantage is that a person is more susceptible to get into trouble by making carless decisions due to the boredom. As you see with my situation, if i was caught i could have had serious consequences. So secondly the lack medical resources in the area. For example in Coushatta only has one hospital with around about four GOOD general practitioners who are in office at various random times, so imagine the waiting line, horrific! This results in people being generally ignorant of the rules of sick people both physically and mentally. Another problem for me was transportation. Being that i had no license or vehicle and as any person would i enjoyed going places but it was very limited due to this fact. This relates to the limited public services such as malls, restaurants, schools, and polices and fire departments. And the ultimate disadvantage is that for want of proper education, they become narrow-minded and superstitious. Their are plenty people from my home town that are very "petty" basically meaning at times, they make something insignificant into something bigger to suit their own agenda. I believe the environment and the living conditions could be the blame for this type of behavior but thats neither here or their.

Enough with the negatives of living in a small rural area because believe it or not it can be sometimes LIT! I believe that us sometimes called "country" folks have more enjoyment when it comes to the outdoor life and the agricultural aspect of life. For example, it was quite taboo when i got to Xavier and talked about how me and my buddies from home would ride horses, dirt bikes, and four wheelers for fun. People are actually scared of horses, when back home almost every one's grandpa has about three of them. Also it is private, overall in the country it is so private one could dance around without clothes in the back yard without anyone saying anything. You can sit on your porch and not be bothered with nosey folks walking or driving by staring at you. If you have a party there are no neighbors to disturb, so you don’t have to worry about having the police called you are having a good time.

So overall sure the rural life isn't the best, it is actually far from it in my opinion. From the emotional vulnerability of making poor decisions to the constant pettiness and narrow mindedness it is pretty stressful. But it also has its positive benefits such as our ability to appreciate the outdoor life for leisure time and not for punishment. Also we live a more carefree way of living regarding the quietness and the seclusion of small towns especially in Louisiana. But my moral is no matter where you are from embrace it. No matter if you are from the biggest metropolitan city in the United States or from the most minuscule town that is a little smidget on the map, embrace it and appreciate it for what it is and find what makes your hometown unique and represent.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
