It's the same routine everyday.
I wake up and get ready for the school day. I pack my backpack with my school supplies.
*zips up all the pockets of my backpack*
I head to my door, stop in the dewy grass, and stop to rethink if I had packed my earbuds. I quickly swing my backpack off one shoulder and start to unzip the pockets again.
* heart starts beating faster*
I whisper to myself.. "where are they?"
I feel my hands grab the white headphone jack.
A sigh of relief.. "awesome."
I unlock my car and get in, quickly reaching my purple aux cord. I plug it into my phone and open up Spotify. I click "Let the Good Times Roll" by Ben Rector, and I start driving.
While driving, I start to ponder and think about what I should listen to once I arrive to school. It's always a tough choice for me and it always has been. Ever since I received my very first iPod touch in eighth grade, music has always been such a big part of my life, but the need for me to always have my ear buds with me didn't really start until sophomore year of high school. Being able to put in my earbuds and to mute the busy world around me has always been so satisfying for me, it's my happy place.
As the day rolls by, the music changes as the volume goes up and down.
I will continue everyday to check before leaving the house for my headphones, and so the routine continues...
