When You're The Official Driver Of The Friend Group

Once you start driving your friends places from the goodness of your heart, it never ends. You find yourself being the go-to official driver for your friends. You'll be driving your friends everywhere all the time that it doesn't even phase you anymore when they just assume that you will be driving. These drives are always entertaining because it is never just a normal drive.

The number one thing that your friends think that they can get away with when you are driving with them is to critique your driving skills. I'll admit it, I am the not the best driver. I might have done some not-so-smart things while I have been driving. Like driving on the wrong side of the road. In my defense, that only happened once. I also almost never park correctly in the lines when I park my car. I am that person that takes up two parking spaces. Like a responsible driver, I always point out that I am not responsible for their lives if I get into a car accident. I honestly feel bad for people who haven't driven with me and then get in the car with me for the first time.

The best is when you're picking your friends up from their houses and you don't let them into your car. I do this if I'm mad at them or if I just want to be that person. I will lock the car doors and laugh at their death glares. There are times where I have also just driven past them as they stand there confused.

The worst thing about your friends when they know that you're a bad driver is that they will laugh at you and make fun of you if you make a mistake. This especially happens if you hit something, like a mailbox (one time). They'll also laugh when you keep hitting the curb as you pray to God that it didn't scratch up your car.

Not only will they laugh at you for hitting curbs, they will also laugh at your height. As someone who is 4'11, it is difficult for me to reach the peddles in the car. I need to adjust my seat all the way so that I can reach the peddles. On the bright side, my friends like to point out how there is a lot of leg room in the back for them.

Every single time that I drive my friends places, they always want to stop at Wendy's. This especially happens when you have a lot of guy friends. They need the Strawberry Lemonade from Wendy's, especially in honor for our friend who moved away. This is his favorite drink from Wendy's. They take their strawberry lemonade drinks and pour a little on the sidewalk (what a waste) and say "Rest in peace, Fern." No, he didn't die. They're just weird.

As the driver, you should be the one that is in charge of the music. Not the ones in the passenger seats. So when some of them ask you to "play fire off the aux cord," now is your moment to play your favorite One Direction songs as they all beg you to stop. Or you could be considerate and play songs that everyone loves.

As my 21 birthday is approaching, I'm just waiting for the new dilemma to occur where everyone is just going to assume that I will be the DD driver for every time we go to the bar. That is not happening. There have been many times where I had to pick everyone in my town up just to go to a party as well as driving them home.

The worst part has to be when everyone assumes that I will be driving them. However, there are rare occasions when a friend will ask me if I need a ride. These people deserve an award. Finally, it is your time to relax and enjoy the ride with no responsibilities.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
