When Your Brother Is Your Best Friend, It's A Blessing And A Curse
Ashley Wojewodzic

An older brother is a blessing and a curse.

It means having someone you know will always be there to protect you, but being terrified to bring a new guy home. It means having someone to spend hours with laughing at the dumbest things, but getting in some pretty vicious fights too. If you have an older brother, you know exactly what I'm talking about.

If you're lucky, you can consider your older brother your best friend and your relationship is more funny and exciting than the stereotypical brother-sister relationship. You may fight over the little things like who's taking the car out for the night, not having the same curfew despite the short age difference, him not liking the shirt you're planning on going out in, and not letting each other hang out with your friends. You fight like cats and dogs but in the end you love each other more than you may want to admit.

When your brother is your best friend, you just want to spend time with him, even if it means just going on a car ride to Dunks. You don't think twice about giving him rides home when he drank too much despite it being two in the morning, and you're always defending him like you're defending yourself.

When your brother is your best friend, you almost share friends with each other. His friends become yours and yours become his. Some of his best friends become like your older brothers and some of your friends become like his little sisters. When you were little and fought with each other you said things like, "I hate my brother! I'm never talking to him ever again!" and you almost meant it, but as you get older you see the bigger picture. Your relationship gets better and times get better as you two grow older.

Having a brother that doubles as your best friend sure has its downfalls, like when he isn't around when you want someone to talk to or when you need a laugh - but it has more perks than anything. For the rest of your life, you'll have that older brother who will knock any guy out who crosses you. You'll have the intimidating older brother that some people are scared of, but most importantly, you'll have that person. He's the Christina Yang to your Meredith Grey.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
