If you are anything like me, then you have been blessed to have your boss be more than just your boss. Your boss is also a mentor, a friend and a confidant to you. You have a ton of respect for your boss, but you aren't terrified of them. Here are a few things you know to be true when you are lucky, and your moss is more than just a boss.
1. You actually get excited to go to work.
Your boss makes life interesting. After being away for a weekend, you find yourself looking forward to Monday morning because your boss makes you love your job that much.
2. Anytime anything exciting happens, you just have to fill them in the next day you work.
Going anywhere fun? You have to tell them! Not just because they need to know that you won't be able to work, but also because you are so excited to tell them. Plus, they are excited to hear it! They are interested in new opportunities in your life and you are excited to share them!
3. They know just about everything that goes on in your life.
All of the family, friends and relationship drama? They know about it. They also vent with you and give you the best advice!
4. You even probably have an emoji next to their name in your phone.
Only your favorite people have emojis next to their names on your phone and your boss is one of them. Since I work at an art studio, it makes sense that my boss has the artist palette emoji next to her name.
5. They teach you new things on a regular basis.
Everything you know about your job, you owe to them. However, they don't just teach you about things pertaining to your job. They also teach you about life in general.
6. You want their guidance on major life decisions.
When it comes to school and other job opportunities / internships, you want their advice.
7. You buy each other things for Christmas, birthdays and even when you go on a vacation.
You even know each other well enough that you get / give the best gifts.
8. You get sad thinking about having to work somewhere else in the future.
You love your job so much, you can't picture ever leaving. Thinking about having to move on to something else one day breaks your heart.
9. You aspire to be like them.
You love their work ethic, wisdom and decisions. You can't think of a better role model.
10. You find yourself wishing they were your age.
You think to yourself, "Why couldn't my boss have gone to school with me? We would have been best friends!"
11. You feel so lucky to love your job as much as you do.
You feel sorry for people who hate their jobs, and you don't understand how it would be possible to not love what you do. Overall, you can't picture being happy anywhere else, and a lot of that happiness has to do with who you work with.
