If you live on or near campus, your average commute to class is probably 15 minutes walking. Relatively, that's not a long walk and plus you get to opportunity for some light exercise. You can admire your beautiful campus, grab a quick coffee on your way, or chit chat with friends that are also walking to class. However, sometimes, walking just isn't a good idea and it'd be better to drive. See below situations:
1. Too hot
If it's over 100 degrees, no way. You have to drive. Do you want to show up to Economics drenched in sweat? My calculations say no. Pull out the car keys.
2. Snow or rain
You wake up to go to class and look out the window and there's stuff falling from the sky, what do you do? Well obviously don't walk in it! What if you slip? Plus, you don't own an umbrella. And if that stuff is snow, there's a pretty high chance of you freezing on the way to class and turning into an ice cube. That's just basic science. You should drive to class.
3. You're running late
It happens. You didn't hear your alarm or lost track of time, now your class starts in 10 minutes and you won't make it in time if you walk! There's no other choice. Your literal grades depend on it. Jump in the car and drive yourself there.
4. It's early in the morning
There's a short list of things that your body wants to do early in the morning and the only thing on that list is sleep. If you didn't notice, walking is not on that list. If you scheduled all your classes early in the morning, you better get gas before the school week starts.
5. If its dark out
Everyone knows that that's when the murders are out. If you have a night class, it's just not safe. You know who's also out in the dark? Raccoons! There's just a lot of potential danger out there that could stand in the way of the quality education you're trying to get. The safest option, if you care about your life at all, is to drive.
6. If you're sick
As the valiant and dedicated college student you are, sometimes you have to go to class even when you're sick. The sniffles won't stop your professor from marking your absence as unexcused. But when you're sick, you have to save all of your energy for fighting of the illness, which means you should probably limit your exercise. The doctor would recommend driving to class.
7. You're having a bad day
Whether it's friend drama or an unusually high amount of stress, sometimes you're just not in a good mood. The last thing you feel like doing is walking up all those stairs and seeing everyone you know on the way. You deserve to drive to class.
8. You wore the same outfit yesterday
And you're going to see the same people on the way to class today! Go get the car keys!
9. If you walked to class yesterday
That should be enough for this week. This time, you should drive.
10. You don't feel like it
Don't do anything you don't wanna do, ya know? If you want to drive, drive.
Clearly, there are many reasons you might drive to class. I don't make the rules but it seems pretty justified to drive in most situations just to maintain your well being, especially as a fragile college student. If you do decide to walk to class...that sounds fake but okay.
