My freshman year of college, I decided to go through formal recruitment. I was lucky enough to get the house of my choosing. Weeks flew by, and the time came for me to pick my big. This was really important to me because I wanted my best friend in my sorority to become my big. The catch was, I knew that if I chose her and she chose me, I wouldn't have her to myself. Having heard "horror stories" about what it was like to be a twin, I was a little hesitant at first to become one. Soon, I came to realize that my twin really was my biggest blessing, and for that, I am thankful.
Being a twin allows you to have a bond that no one else can relate to.
Having a twin, whether in real life or Greek life, allows you to have a bond with someone that no one else can understand. In sorority families, you share a a big, and that is something no one else can do. You handle the ups and downs of being a new member and going through initiation – as well as all the craziness that comes with freshman year – together.
She is the yin to your yang.
My twin and I are polar opposites in many ways but very similar in others. When I need that person to snap me out of something, then she is the one I go to. She is the calm to my storm and the one I love to spend time with.
She is the "Aunt" to your (future) little... aka, the one who will spoil her when you won't.
When having a twin, it gives great peace of mind to know that she will be the one to look out for your little when you can't be there. She is your other half. You share a big, so why not share a little?!
She is your partner in crime and the one who helps you drive your big insane. Double the blessings, and double the trouble.
My big did not know all that she had gotten herself into when she decided to get twins. Yes, she got two perfect angels that were all hers, but she also got two scheming girls who love to annoy her and drive her insane. Having a twin lets you have someone who will be there with you no matter the situation.
She will listen to you when no one else will, because, well, she is your twin.
When you are as blessed as I am, you have a relationship with your twin that is similar to your relationship with your big. We love our big and all that she does for us, but we are also just as close. We listen to one another and give each other advice. She is always there to listen when I need her, and I am there for her as well.
She helps you craft for all occasions, especially when your crafting is sub-par.
I am an okay crafter. I have my strengths and weaknesses, but when I got my twin, I soon came to find out that crafting was HER thing. She has all the gizmos and gigets to craft her little heart away. She makes your crafting boards come to life.
You always have someone to go out with or stay in with.
My twin and I have a great relationship. We have times that we love to go out and others that we don't.
Having a twin means you always have an extra person in your corner, no matter the reason.
She will save you from that drunk guy that won't leave you alone.
There is always the ONE drunk guy that is annoying. Your twin will be one of the people who will come and save you!!
Twins are always the first to congratulate you on your accomplishments.
My twin is definitely a go-getter. She had been a part of our school's SGA since the beginning of freshman year. I am so proud to call her my twin and brag about her to just about everyone. There have been many times this past year that we have both gotten things we worked hard for, and I know she is normally one of the first people to congratulate me during these times.
If you are are lucky, you will come to realize that your twin was a gift given to you by God. You can become the best of friends or the worst of enemies, but being a twin is actually really great. I know I would not trade mine for anything.
