I enjoy being single and doing what I want when I want. I get to go out and be adventurous with whoever I want. I have those friends in a relationship, the ones who are heartbroken right out of a relationship, the ones talking to someone, and then there's me—the friend brought along to date parties and that your friend's boyfriends go to and give compliments to make you try to feel better about being single. Thank you, boyfriends—so sincere. I thank my friends for thinking of me as they invite me along on their dates or to their boyfriend's houses. I start to think I am in my friends relationships when that is all they ever talk about.
Also, it is so much fun when they ask me for advice when I have no experience, but a ton of knowledge. I love trying to flirt with the boyfriend's friends, but end up walking away in shame. Always the one dancing, then you realize your friend you were dancing with starts dancing with her guy and you are oddly swaying alone at the bar. All your friends are texting their boys, and you are refreshing Instagram as much as possible until a new post pops up. When you are Netflix and chilled all alone with your body pillow. Being the friend that isn't with anyone gets old.
I forget how to react around boys.
When my friends try to set me up with a crush.
Dancing alone, but still trying to be somewhat original.
The only thing I need.
I spend too much time with myself.
Friends attempt to hook you up.
If I ask a guy to hang out.
When my friends tell me about their hookups and asked me how my night went with a guy.
Knowing how the end of your night will be.
When you bring your roommate with a boyfriend to a date party.
The complaining sometimes is endless.
My suitemates weekly question with encouragement:
And my reaction:
It is a fun time when you are single, but it just sucks when you call all your roommates names in the room and no one responds because they are all at their boyfriend's. Or when you go in the common room to watch a show, but they are cuddling on the couch. Set ups are always being tried, and the boyfriend pity compliments are always a plus. Eating in the dining hall on a third wheel date is cool and so is going to bed with them giggling all cute next to you. "Who are you texting?" "My mom." You got to love your bottle of alcohol, your solo dance moves, and the award flirting attempts. Thank you, roommates, for the endless attempts and motivation for my future relationship that will never happen. I cannot wait to continue my streak of being single, my pickup lines to get worse, my drinks to get stronger, and my dancing on the stage to continue.
