Where to go to save money.

When Saving A Buck Is Easy

Many of us, myself included, struggle with the money situation while going to school. I feel like it is almost normal to be broke and go to college. Every person I run into can relate to the same heart-wrenching feeling of only having that $3.00 in your name come the day before pay day. So, when we can find a good deal, we jump on it. Or at least I do, most of the time. I have come up with a list of places that allow college student discounts. Thus, next time you go out, check this list first so you can save some money and everyone wins in the end!

Warning: Not all locations participate with these deals, and when trying to get these deals, make sure you always present your student ID so you are more likely to get the discount.

  1. When buying books for the next semester keep Amazon in mind—or just for when you need a item—they have free two day shipping for all college kids.
  2. If you are in the mood to listen to some new tunes and want to listen to some new mixes, Spotify will give college kids a 50 percent discount when signing up.
  3. Need a new hair cut but don’t have a hair stylist around town? Supercuts will give a 20 percent discount to all college kids. Start the New Year off with a new do just in time for the first day of class!
  4. If you are in the market to stock up on good food or going to throw a party one night and need a Sam's Club account, they will give all students a discount when signing up along with a $15.00 gift card! That’s like free money—who wouldn’t want that?!
  5. If you have expensive taste like I do at times, J Crew gives 15 percent off to all college kids. So, we can look good all year on campus!
  6. Now, we all get hungry as well, and don’t always feel up to wanting to cook food after a long day of class, so here is a list of food places that offer college discounts. Burger King, Buffalo Wild Wings, Subway, and Arbysall offer 10 percent off. Then Chipotle offers 15 percent off.
  7. Computer software can be super expensive, and for us college kids, that’s really hard to do. Here are a few computer places that offer discounts to poor college kids. Apple offers a back-to-school deal/sale every year. Also, they give gift cards with a purchase of a product, and who wouldn’t want more Apple things? They also give a discount of 5 percent most of the time to students, as well. Microsoft offers 10 percent off Pros and Windows. Adobe offers up to 60 percent off of software, HUGE DEAL! Norton Software gives students up to 50 percent off of their software products.
  8. And lastly, if you are looking to travel anytime soon Amtrac gives 15 percent off to all student rails passes. GMC offers a college discount on their cars as well.

Other stores that give discounts are vineyard vines - 15 percent ,CharlotteRusse - 10 percent, Asos - 10 percent, Banana Republic - 15 percent, The Limited - 15 percent, Steve Madden - 10 percent, and Ann Taylor - 20 percent off. Kate Spade offers 15 percent and Alex and Ani offers 10 percent .

That is it for my list of goods. Now, next time you are out and about before you spend full price on anything make sure it’s either A. on the list for discounts offered or B. it doesn’t hurt to ask and see. If you can save a few bucks here and there, your bank account will thank you later. Plus who likes to pay full price for anything these days when you know there is a ways to get it cheaper!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
