16 Signs You've Met Your College Family

If you're like me, you've been blessed with a college family. These are the people you talk to almost every day, give updates of when it's almost time for grilled cheese Thursday, and these are the people you confide in with every detail of your life.

1. You have a group message that gets texted in almost every minute of every day.

It has an iconic name that only the people in your group message would understand. Your phone buzzes off the hook when really it's just the group message with notices of hot guy warnings, pictures of outfit choices, and rants of overwhelming workloads.

2. Every morning, you look forward to waking up and seeing these beautiful faces.

I literally walk down the stairs of my apartment and bang on one of my best friend's door just to say good morning (we were ironically placed as neighbors in our complex).

3. These are your number one supporters.

They help you get ready for date functions, give you a million other closets to borrow clothes and shoes from, provide you with endless compliments, and make you feel like you're on top of the world.

4. These are the people you confide in with your deepest secrets.

They know anything and everything about you, and still love you to no end.

5. When you're sick, they're the one's who deliver medicine to your door.

You practically have built in nurses.

6. You're complete savages together (nobody has a filter) and that's the best part, because you know they'll always tell you the harsh truth.

7. These are the people who never judge you, no matter how much of a freak you may be.

You hang out almost every day, and never get tired of each other (okay maybe sometimes, but all you need is a couple of hours, and it's back to being crazy together).

8. Dance parties are endless.

Whether it's 9am in the kitchen, 2pm on the Quad, or 12am at someone's house, they're always up to dance with you.

9. These are the only people who can make fun of you, and it be okay.

You falling down a hill a year ago, and completely wiping out, is still a topic that gets brought up - but it's funny, so it's okay.

11. You motivate each other throughout the endless days of work.

You might've had a bad day, but it's okay, because when you get home you can all watch the Bachelor, stuff your faces with junk food, and rant about your days together.

12. You're bad influences to each other, but also each other's best influences.

There's nobody else you'd rather be in shambles with, but also be successful with.

13. These are the first people you report back to when you get an A on an exam, or bake the best cookies ever, because nobody else cares, but you know they will.

14. You always have something to do.

Whether it be tanning at the pool, tailgating, studying at the library, or having coffee dates together, there's always someone there.

15. Without a doubt, these are the people you'd drop anything for.

If it was 12pm or 12am, you're always ready for some kind of adventure with them.

16. These are the people who make up your college family, away from your biological family.

Life sure is an endless roller coaster of fun with them, and there's no one else you'd rather do college with.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
