When God Says "Not Right Now"

God has bigger plans than we have for ourselves

When I wait, You strengthen my heart" -Psalm 27:14

One of the most frustrating yet beautiful things that can happen is God saying 'not right now' or 'no'. You may be praying for one certain thing to work out in your life and you desperately want it to work out so bad, but God just says no to you. At this point you are thinking that God wants you to be unhappy, you ask him why he will not let this one thing happen for you, but that is because he has a plan for you. God is continually, endlessly working in our lives. We may not see it, but He is. We may blame God for all the things that are going wrong in our lives, but we never see that in the end, we were supposed to go through the low valleys to get to the high, amazing, and beautiful mountains in our lives.

Sometimes our plans may not work out because God has much bigger ones for us. God always has something for you. A key for every problem, a relief for every sorrow and a plan for every tomorrow. One of the hardest things for me to understand a couple of years ago was why God would not let these things happen in my life that I wanted to or why I would be put through things I did not want to be put through. But now I understand that it is all because God was changing and molding me. He was making me grow up and become more mature. He was making me realize that life is not all peaches and cream. But now I know that if I had not have gone through what I did then I would not be where I am at now.

Where you are at today is not an accident and God is using the situation you are in right now to shape you and prepare you for the place he wants to bring you into tomorrow. Trust Him with His plan for you, even if you do not know it.

So if you are ever going through a rough time and you are asking "God, why me?" just remember that God has a plan for you and he is not going to put you through something you can not handle. You are not alone in this at all. God has a plan for your life. The enemy has a plan for your life. Be ready for both. Just be wise enough to know which one to battle and which one to embrace.

I have learned that no matter what, you are going to hit rough patches in your life. God is going to make you hit rock bottom just so you can realize that He is the rock and that he is going to be there to catch you no matter what.

"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future" - Jeremiah 29:11

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
