When You Give A Girl A Big...
Abigail Wideman

When you give a girl a big, you give her a permanent best friend, and partner in crime....

When you give a girl a big, you give her someone to look up to, and to look at as a role model. You give her someone to idolize for their accomplishments. You give her someone to be proud of.

You give her someone who has already had her first year of college and sorority life, so she has learned her lessons, and can share them with you. Like to never wear the uncomfortable heels, and to always eat before you go out.

When you give a girl a big, you also give her a G-Big. You give her someone who is older and wiser, and who is always there to help you catch a ride home when you’re out too late. You give her another amazing sister to look up to, and aspire to be like.

When you give a girl a big, you give her someone to always send her videos of puppies on Twitter or Facebook. (No matter how close you are to each other, you know you can always rely on those puppy videos to be sent/received.)

When you give a girl a big, you give her someone to refer to as her “mom away from home.” You give her a second mom that she can turn to when all she really needs is her biological mother when she is out of reach. You give her someone at college who genuinely cares about her well-being, and who will always stand up for her. You give her someone who is always there to listen, and you give her someone who is always there for a hug

When you give a girl a big… you give her more than stacked family photos, a week of surprises, hand-me-down t-shirts and the title of “little.”

When you give a girl a big, you give her a go-to sorority/college guide. You give her someone who can give her the breakdown of what rules you need to know, and which not to bother following. You give her someone who can show her the way things are done, whether it's what to wear to a mixer, or how to navigate your way around a game-day tailgate.

When you give a girl a big, you give her an automatic set of friends, because her best-friends littles will often be who you’re spending most of your time with.

You give her someone who always has advice to give away, regardless of the topic. You give her someone who will always be there to lift her up, reply to her paragraph long text messages, comment on all of her Instagram pictures, and listen to her most awkward and embarrassing moments. You give her a permanent support system, and someone who loves her even more for all of her quirks..

When you give a girl a big, you give her someone to make her a better person, and you give her someone to inspire. You give her someone who allows her to see what being a leader is, and how to be a good role model. While being in a sorority gives you so many friendships and experiences, none of it compares to your sorority family, that's what makes college feel like home.

When you give a girl a big, you give her a second home.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
