Have you ever sat down quietly by yourself, stared off into the distance, and just felt as if you don’t belong? We are often given expectations, some by others and some by ourselves. Whether we actually live up to them is up to us. However, sometimes along the way we are struck with events that derail our train from the tracks.

It is not unheard of to feel like this. It is not unheard of to be completely far from your goals; in fact most of the time, the goal you originally set will change as you grow older and more experienced with life. As we age and mature, life exposes many of its secrets to us. Granting us the opportunities to see trials and tribulations that we then must find ways to work through.

Often, we find ourselves questioning where we are, finding new things to pick at. After the questioning comes the anger, along with the “what ifs.” Yeah, you’re not the only one who feels like this. Many of us get to a stage in our lives where things just do not make sense, even when things are going completely to plan. There is always something more that we as humans crave.

When you feel yourself sliding into this rut, or if you are currently feeling this way, there are ways to get through it. When you feel yourself slipping, It is very important that you are able to find ways to express what you are feeling. Whether this means finding a hobby or a best friend to lay your life unto, go ahead and do it! Lack of communication is one of the major reasons why people are unable to get through issues that they are facing.

We are so quick to feel ashamed and embarrassed, often sacrificing opportunities to talk about what is going on. Most of the time people around us have already experienced things that we are going through. They are usually able to give you advice, but in order to receive advice you must first learn to open your mouth! No one will be able to read your mind; you must share it first.

We as humans all have very similar growth patterns. However, the rate at which our minds mature differ. With that being said, stop comparing yourself to people around you! You are your own person; put in the work and get yourself to where you want to go! By comparing yourself to others and putting yourself down because you have not obtained what others have will get you nowhere.

Our biggest enemy in this life is FEAR. You must be courageous and brave when you try to take on the risks in life, and it is that which will bring you success. Step out of your box and be great! But you must be patient. If you lack patience, you will see how much harder it is for you to obtain success.

Lastly, you must be appreciative. Wake up and be thankful that you opened your eyes, for some do not always end up being this lucky. If you appreciate what you have in front of you, good or bad, you will see how far you can go. You will see how much you are able to endure. Taking life for all that it is and learning to make the best of it will never leave you feeling lost.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
