Distance can get to anyone at anytime. Your first time away at summer camp to your first time away at college there are a variety of people, pets, and things that you may miss a lot more than you expected. In the beginning you may think that you are okay and that home sickness won't affect you, but that can be because you are busy. When you stop for a minute and think, or see something that reminds of home or even a familiar sent can affect your mood. That mood can change to lonely or homesick.

You can choose to be happy by remembering the good moments or you can choose to be sad because it is something that you need to feel in to moment. You may feel broken and lost when you are uprooted from consistent routines and that is very normal. People are creatures of habit and when that is disturbed the adaptation process can become very difficult.

When you can't see your pets, family, and your significant other in the same way it has been all of you life because of distance, it becomes difficult and you may just want to give up. You could give up the new adventure you are on to go back to your old routine or you could give up trying to maintain a relationship over distance. Please, please, please listen to me.

Do NOT give up!

You can do it, you really can. Incorporate what you can from your old routine into a new one, find the strength to carry on. If it is truly important to you there is a way to make it work. I know that every circumstance is different and some things do not work for everyone and that is okay. Think and talk about your decisions with someone or yourself before they become concrete. Realize that you can hurt many people, but everything will be okay. Distance is tough, but you can make it through.

"Promise me you'll always remember: You're braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think." - A.A .Milne

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.
