Ah, adulthood. All kids ever want to do since they were little innocent creatures is become an adult. Adults get to do all these fun things like pay bills, worry about life and, most importantly, come off as if they know what they are doing in life. Well, the last one may only pertain to young adults, but that's not the point. The point is that all we wanted was to become adults ... until we found out exactly what that entails.
Paying your rent ... on time.
The first "official" sign that you are an adult is paying your rent. Rent is expensive and it's always so irrationally high. It hurts my dignity when I get that wonderful paycheck I have been waiting for for days and, as soon as I receive this check, I realize that my rent is due. Now, I am about to end with $4.00 in my bank account. At least I can eat for four "meals" on the dollar menu.
Responsibilities.
These really get you sometimes. When you first move out on your own, you come to realize how messy you really are. You also realize how much you have to clean up after other people. So, to all the moms out there, wow; we are so sorry for what we have done to your house in previous years, and thank you for not kicking us out earlier. We are barely handling it now.
Car problems.
Car problems are the absolute worst. Something that seems so small can end up ruining your bank account. Just wait until the first time that you have to figure out how to get your car fixed by yourself then just praying that you don't get screwed over because, lets be honest, you have no idea what you're doing — and you are going to completely wing this one and probably the next one too.
Knowledge.
If you think we have any idea how life works, you're extraordinarily wrong. Let's be honest, do we really need this whole "insurance" thing? I just don't know about it because for one premium payment, I could buy so much food. Let's be honest, if car insurance was not a law, we most likely wouldn't have it.
