The time has come yet again for everyone to obsess over a new iPhone launch and release date. Will it be the 6S or a brand new 7? Will the camera be better? Will they finally fix the darn charger from fraying apart?

So far, no news on the charger. But following Apple’s historic launch dates, a new iPhone is guaranteed to be introduced at Apple’s event coming up on September 9^th. Their invites they recently sent out included this phrase, “Hey Siri, give us a hint.”

So naturally, I asked Siri for some updates…

Now it seems unlikely that we could expect to see something with as drastic of a makeover as the 6 and 6 Plus brought us. If Apple follows its historical pattern, it will most likely be an upgrade to the current 6 (which was introduced the same day last year) and 6 Plus, most likely adding the classic “S” to both.

In June, reports raised of a slight increase in thickness to the new phone. Maybe this will help the bending problem people still seem to have (raising my hand). Or maybe it’s to make room for a bigger, better battery that will give us all longer battery life to actually last our entire work/school day?

There have also been rumors about a new sapphire display. They say this has a higher shatter-resistance. If so, this will be my favorite feature (I have sadly shattered three already).

And of course there is always talk of improving the camera. In August, Apple informed some users with the iPhone 6 Plus that their iSight camera might be faulty, which was resulting in blurry pictures. They offered to replace any 6 Pluses that were purchased between certain dates. You can check to see if your phone is eligible for a replacement here.

Furthermore, rumors of enhancements to the camera on the new phone(s) have escalated including improving the camera so much so that photos will be similar to DSLR-quality photos. This is, of course, highly unlikely for the front-facing camera, but the rear-facing camera is rumored to increase to 12 megapixels, a significant quality increase from 8.

Talk of a pink iPhone has also been added to the mix, as well as a tasteful 14-karat gold model.

All in all, there seems to be an agreement among numerous reports that Apple is focusing on more internal changes with the new phone(s) rather than dramatically changing the exterior. But who knows, Apple might just surprise us all. Guess we’ll all have to wait until the 9^th.
