This article goes out to all those ladies who only have brothers for siblings. You know who you are and how it is. You can spend hours talking about sports, and guy action movies. You're usually not the girly girl of your group of friends, but that's okay. Growing up in a house with my two younger brothers can be fun, but also sometimes terrifying. Though they do have their gross moments, they are your best friends and you're their support system and they're yours. Here are some pros and cons to being the only daughter.
PRO: It's always a party! Having brothers is always fun. Boys tend to be pretty unemotional, so we'd joke around and pull pranks, such as, the good old rubber band on the sink sprayer, thereby drenching the next victim who turned on the sink. It never hurt anyone's feelings or ruined their hair and makeup for the day.
CON: Those manners! The whole farting, leaving the toilet seat up, and scratching their butt. Yup been there for all of those. Dudes stink too. That after football practice cat urine smell will make anyone gag. We are also the most awkward group ever to go out into public. It is embarrassing, my mom always ends up whispering at a restaurant. "This is why we do not have nice things."
PRO: You never have to carry anything heavy by yourself. Moving all your stuff into your car for your dorm is a breeze, because you have your own moving crew living with you. Though sometimes you have to bribe them with a box of Cheez its but they will always help you in the end.
CON: You always are jealous of your friends that have sisters. Sometimes being the only girl is rough, no one to go spontaneous shopping with. Or to help you fix your hair and makeup, or to tell you that your outfit does not work for you. If you ask your brother if this looks good their answer always is, "well it matches." You can not have that sister bond with your mom, even though my mom and I try to help each other out of those outfit catastrophes you sometimes really just want a sister.
PRO: You're always "daddy's girl." I mean, who are you competing with? You are the only girl! My dad has stayed up late waiting for me to come home from school on breaks. Even if I am home for the weekend, he is constantly looking over my car. My car is the most well taken care of vehicle out of everyone's. He always wants to hear what's going on and always asks me how everything is going.
Though I do have some complaints about my brothers and my crazy family, I still love them! I would not trade the world for them, they are truly the greatest. I would do anything for my brothers and they would do the same for me. We are our support systems and each others' best friends. I love each of you so much and I doubt you two actually read this, but mom and dad will.
Love you so much!
