What's In Your Purse?

Or rather, what's in MY purse

What's In Your Purse?
Anna Hamilton

Hey ladies! This one is for you!

We all know that we are guilty of sometimes lugging around a super, and overly stuffed purse from time to time. In fact, I sometimes find it interesting when I see a friend of mine with a cute, yet super tiny purse. I have to stop myself from asking them; "How?!" I can't properly function without my huge tote bag, weighing god-only-knows what. It calls into question just what essentials we must be carrying, and what we find to be more important over others.

As someone who works the graveyard shift, I sometimes find that my bag is packed with much more than reasonably needed. Aside from the more common items; like wallets, a brush and hair ties...my bag always seems to be overflowing, and I have realized that I am a bit of an essentials hoarder!

Because I keep my bag super packed, I prefer to have a super big bag to accommodate. I absolutely LOVE my Coach tote-bag! Best EBay find ever!

Here's a little peek at what's currently in my bag. Maybe some of you can relate:

I LOVE to read! So I always have a book in my purse. Sometimes even two. And you never know when you're gonna have some downtime. I'm currently reading, We Should All Be Feminists by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. Along with my book, I also have the latest issue of The New Yorker in my bag. I love reading all of the articles and stories!

I'm a strong believer in the subtle energy of crystals and stones so this week I happen to have a chunk of amethyst and a small rose quartz piece with me. The amethyst was a gift but I found my rose quartz over on Etsy.

STAY HYDRATED! I always have water with me. I prefer boxed over bottled, and have recently switched over to Boxed Water Is Better.

I ALWAYS carry a body spray on me. You never know when you might need to smell pretty. My favorite scent at the moment is Moonlit Path from Bath&Body Works. I may even throw the matching bottle of lotion in my bag some days.

KEEPING ORGANIZED! My fiancé got me this really awesome planner for 2017 from Cotton:On. Even though today, you can pretty much save any important date in your phone, I find that physically writing it down helps me really remember it. I check this book almost daily and fill it with all sorts of important dates, info on homework assignments, etc! Along with my planner, I ALWAYS make sure to have several pens, highlighters, and little pads of sticky notes! Nothing wrong with staying super organized!

I have not one, but TWO eyeliners in my purse! The only difference between them are the brands. I just love having these mini liners on hand! Black eyeliner really makes my green eyes POP, and it's something that usually requires touch ups during the day. I got both from Sephora.

Although this was a gag gift this past Christmas, Grabber Hand Warmers are an absolute godsend! Lasting for over seven hours, these are a great thing to have in your purse for those extra cold days. They fit perfectly in gloves, hoodie pockets...anything really. I like having these on hand for those nights at work when it's almost too cold to function. And by the time I get home in the morning, they're still warm enough to stuff into my gloves before taking my pups out for their walk!

My MONQ portable essential oils diffuser is another purse must-have! I have their Zen one, which is the perfect blend of frankincense, orange, and ylang ylang. MONQ offers an enjoyable aromatherapy experience with high quality blends, and is so smooth and relaxing! I'm looking forward to trying out their other diffusers, like Happy and Sexy.

I'm honestly surprised that I only found ONE chapstick in my purse. But Burt's Bees Ultra Conditioning Lip Balm with Kokum Butter has been the best one I have used yet. The harsh cold of winter usually destroys my poor lips and leaves them super chapped! But the ultra conditioning balm has really helped greatly this season! You can find it at pretty much any pharmacy! And to go along with that, I also carry my favorite lip creame, by Milani I just love it's matte finish! My favorite shade of theirs is Loved.

So what do you all keep in YOUR purse?

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
