As I walked through my campus the other day, I realized that today everyone is constantly on their phones. People will leave their keys, glasses and even their children, but they will never leave their cell phones. I also noticed that their cell phone’s ringtone correlates with their personality. I’ve heard everything from the latest pop song to someone’s favorite television show theme song, and typically a little jig is done before the phone is even answered. Even text messages have their own snazzy tune, which usually tend to get quite annoying. However, if your phone plays back a ringtone each time someone tries to get in touch with you, you could possibly fall under one of these categories.
The Old Soul.
This could include any music from the 90s on back, and clearly shows you have a diverse taste in music. These are the people whose phones are rocking that Fresh Prince theme show song, a Michael Jackson song, or even a melody from The Temptations. People who possess these ringtones are old souls, and probably good at dancing (Soul Train style). They understand the awesomeness that surrounded songs of the past, and possibly want everyone to appreciate it as well.
The 90's Kid.
These are the people whose phones are rocking the Mightly Morphin Ranger song or the sound of Kim Possible’s beeper. They are kids at heart, and have no shame in their game. People with these types of ringtones most likely are the coolest people you know. They also may be able to name a ton of Pokemon or tell you the combos needed to make a sword slash.
The Pop Star.
You know those phones you hear in the isle of Walmart that have the latest Drake track blasting from them. Along with that might be the owner rapping along while picking up a can of greens. People with the most swag are probably the ones with these ringtones. They may also be the ones you see around campus seemingly always wearing headphones.
The Silent Guy…Or Girl.
Yep, that person who never gets your call or text because they can’t hear their phone (UGH!). These people could possibly have a ringtone but just do not wish to associate with the rest of the world at the moment. Typically those with their phones constantly on silent have a slight obsession with social media. Or perhaps they are super popular and refuse to hear their phone ringing each time they get a text from one of their many squad members.
Of course these are just assumptions made from what I have seen in my few years of living. But I have to say, I have found several of them to be true. Also, there are many other categories which you may fit under. However, these are the ones I have constantly witnessed around campus lately. Regardless, no matter the tone your phone may or may not give off, just know you are all awesome in your own way—and your cell phone’s ringtone is there to showcase that.
