What We Will Miss Most About TSU During The Summer

Well, everything!

What We Will Miss Most About TSU During The Summer
Caitlyn Oxford

The school year has come to a close. Students of Tarleton have packed up their things and moved back home for the summer. The dorm hallways are filled silence and left over tears of those who left. No more studying is great, but no more Stephenville, Tarleton and best friends is not so great. None of were quite ready to head home. This school year went by far to fast. This is what we're going to miss most about Tarleton State this summer.

1. Our Roomate/s

Especially if you got a random roommate at the beginning of the school year, leaving is so hard. You build this bond together. This person has seen me at my very worst and my very best. Knowing that you're going to be hours away from each other with only a phone for contact is the worst. We have spent countless hours together studying, laughing and crying! Now how are we supposed to spend four months away from each other? Even if we have another month it would never be enough. We still wouldn't want to leave.

2. Our Dorms

They're small, crampy and filled with way to much stuff, but they're home.We spend nine months of our lives in this crampy little room. We laugh here. We cry here. We spend time with friends here and we somehow manage to study for just one more hour here. This place becomes a safe haven for us. Everybody complains about living in dorms but really we love it. It's going to be hard to go back to big beds, big rooms and no friends down the hall.

3. Our Campus

Tarleton State campus is perfect. Because we can't walk on the grass, it is beautiful. The buildings, even the old ones, are so cool. We have an amazing campus. Besides the construction, we will definitely miss walking to class everyday.

4.The Annoying Squirrels

I never thought I would say this, but I'm gonna miss the squirrels. They're crazy, and weird but they're not the same any where else. However, I probably won't get chased by a squirrel anywhere else so that's a plus.

5. City Limits

Tuesday and Thursday nights will not be the same. While most of my nights were spent watching Netflix or studying, I loved knowing that I had to option to dance any time I wanted. We will definitely miss our nights filled with two stepping and grinding with friends.

6. Random Whataburger Runs

Along with those nights at City, come random Whataburger runs. What is better than a bacon burger and fries after a night of dancing, studying or drinking? We can do those whataburger runs at home, but it's just not the same without our college friends.

7. The Poo and The Plowboys

Around every corner is a plowboy or a poo, even if they're not in their uniform. It's the spirit of the thing. Constantly having the ployboys and the Poo around just gives us a feeling of spirit around TSU. While we always bleed purple, its always more fun when the spirit organizations are around!

8. Watching our Texans and Texanns

With summer comes no sports. Around Tarleton, that just isn't any fun. It is one of our favorite things in the world. Without the Texans to cheer for, we don't know what to do with all that Tarleton Spirit!

9. Being 5 minutes From Food and a Study Space

In college, there is food and study space five minutes away at almost all times. It is an amazing world to live in. But when we go home we actually have to cook food and finding a quiet place becomes a lot more difficult.

10. That Random Guy/Girl We Made Friends With

We make a lot of friends during college but there is always that one that we become close to. Moving away, even for four months, is really hard. We'd rather be able to see each other everyday, or even once a week like we do at school.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
