Beginning college as a freshman can be scary, nerve wracking, and exciting. Most people don't exactly know what they are walking into when they first move in on campus, but it always helps to get a sense of what to expect from your first week of college.
1. Expect to introduce yourself. A lot.
I have said my own name about 500 times in one day. Not only do you have to introduce yourself to a constantly new stream of people, but you have to remind people of your name because it gets so easily forgotten. On top of that, you'll be hearing so many names yourself that you may even forget your own.
2. Expect a few bruises.
If you have a lofted bed like me, you can definitely expect to bump your head a few times. Being on top bunk may also result in some leg bruises when you're searching for the ladder. Being nervous and being in a new environment with a lot of new people can make some people more clumsy, so just be prepared to walk into trees, trashcans, tables, and definitely other people.

3. Expect to constantly talk about your major.
After telling people about your name and your hometown, you're definitely going to be asked about your major/what you plan on studying. It's pretty common and like your name, people are going to forget it and ask, "Wait what's your major again?" The only time the answer to this question really matters is if the person has the same major as you. Other than that, it's just useless small talk to ease the awkwardness of Frosh-O.
4. Expect to feel like an underachiever.
Nothing is more awkward than hearing about how someone diffused landmines in Croatia over the summer or how one of your classmates interned in their senator's office when all you did this summer was sit by a pool. Luckily, not everyone in college over achieves to that degree, even though it sometimes feel like. It can be intimidating when other freshmen seem to know exactly what they want to do in life and you're still undecided. Don't worry though, you're not completely alone if you feel undecided; it doesn't make you any lesser of a student.
5. Expect to make some new friends.
It's hard not to make some friends during college because you're all stuck in the same awkward situation together. No one likes feeling alone during lunch, or even on the way to class so people are more likely to strike up a conversation. By the end of the first week, you're going to make friends that are just as happy to be in college as you are.
