During college, you're gonna have a pretty long winter break. It sounds really nice, since it's right after finals, so you pack all your things up, and get set to go home, celebrate the holidays, visit friends, etc. Once you get home like I am, it's nice to be settled back in your own bed, your own bathroom, not having to walk across campus or do homework every day, etc. I've only been home for five days and I already feel ready to go back to school. So for those of you that are still waiting for your long winter breaks, here's some advice I have for you that I'm probably going to stick to until I go back to school in January:
1. Intern somewhere!
You may want to take a break from working, but having an internship somewhere can actually be a step up in the working world for you! By volunteering or shadowing somewhere in a field of your interest, you can get one step closer to really figuring out your place in the working world.
2. BINGE WATCH!
My personal favorite show is "Jane the Virgin," but be sure to pay a trip to Netflix, Xfinity, or whatever TV watching service you have over break to catch up on your favorite shows, watch some movies, etc.
3. Visit friends all around.
Like me, you probably haven't seen most of your high school friends since graduation, and what better way to spend your extended breaks traveling to go party and hang out with those friends?
4. Rest up!
Let's be honest: after finals, you were most likely sleep deprived from the daily all-nighters you had during the school year. You need the sleep, and don't be afraid to go to sleep before 2 a.m. — it's actually good for you!
5. Actually talk to your family.
Your family misses you, despite constantly asking about your grades or being busy a lot of the time. They want to hear from you, so just talk to them! When you go back, you won't have these opportunities every day.
Overall, you should really enjoy your vacation away from school. Once you get back, it'll be a whole different world, just wait.
