What The Show Friends Taught Me

On January 1, 2015, Netflix aired the entire season of "Friends" and I was beyond excited. I had always seen bits and pieces of the episodes on Nick At Night and had heard so many good things about the show. I wanted to see it so badly to the point that I was very close to buying the complete series on DVD on Amazon. Mind you, it was over $100.00 total. Once I discovered that Netflix would be streaming the show, I deleted the DVD set from my cart and patiently waited for January 1.

I have so far seen the entire series from season one to season ten at least four times and I will continue to watch because I truly love this show. Each of the characters taught me something and to have a certain perspective of the world. The show follows six friends living in New York City: Monica Gellar, Rachel Green, Phoebe Buffay, Joey Tribbiani, Chandler Bing and Ross Gellar. They each have their own problems and struggles, but at the end of the day they all have each other to lean on as if they were family. I truly love the friendship and love in this show.

1. Monica Gellar

Monica Gellar is very well known for being extremely competitive for absolutely everything! What she taught me is to never give up and alway do your best, never let anyone get to you and don't let them bring you down!

2. Rachel Green

Rachel has the best fashion sense on the show. I know its' from the 90s, but it's so cute! I wish I could raid her closet, even now. Rachel taught me to dress to impress, always be over dressed and wear what you like and not care what others think about it. You go Rachel Green.

3. Phoebe Buffay

Phoebe Buffay, she truly is one of a kind. She is a free spirit and truly has no filter, which is why I love her. Phoebe taught me to love life, to live it how I want and to ignore other's judgements, looks and stares. If it makes you happy then do it, if you don't like something, then change it. Don't be afraid to be you, to be unique.

4. Joey Tribbiani

Joey Tribbiani truly is a bottomless pit when it comes to food. He is very protective of his food. There even is a pizza restaurant by his apartment that has "the Joey special," which consists of two large pizzas. Joey taught me to love food and to not share and not feel guilty about it!

5. Chandler Bing

Chandler Bing is that awkward, random friend everyone has. But also very lovable and hilarious. Chandler taught me to be funny and to not care how others take your "humor." Everyone has different taste when it comes to humor, have your own and let it free.

6. Ross Geller

Ross Geller (Monica's brother) is very loving, hell he was married three times in the show! Ross has loved Rachel his whole life. Turns out she loves him too, always has since she found out his strong feelings for her. Ross taught me to love unconditionally, and love with your whole heart. This world could use a lot of love. So let your love show and let it beam!

Friends was truly a great show. It shows the ups and downs of life. The scary moments and the good ones. Gives a glimpse as to how hard adult life can be but assures you that you'll be okay.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
