The best shows are the ones that can make you laugh hysterically, choke back tears, and melt your heart. The Office is a show that makes viewers do all three, and learn valuable lessons along the way!
Here are five things we learned from the crew at Dunder Mifflin:
1. Find the humor in every situation.
No matter how mundane everyday tasks may seem, it is imperative to find the funny in every situation. If you don’t, life can be as dry as the presentation on Diversity Day. So release your inner Jim Halpert and turn a boring office job into a pranking arena! And remember, the best way to deal with a lull in life is by placing someone’s things into Jello.
2. Never, ever give up on the ones you love.
In that one episode where no one shows up to Pam’s art show except Michael, we learned a great deal about people. People will disappoint you—it’s just a fact of life. It’s up to you whether you want to forgive them or just lower your expectations. However, it’s vital to never lose hope in the ones you love. Some bonds can save us. These connections are what can break us. Define us. Heal us. Even though it’s easy, don’t give up on people—they might just surprise you.

3. People change over time.
The most amazing aspect of the show was watching the characters develop and grow over nine incredible seasons. Pam’s metamorphosis from a shy wanna-be artist to a strong, independent saleswoman was nothing short of inspiring. Everyone can relate to Pam—we’ve all lacked self-confidence. It’s easy to overlook her and label her as being Jim’s wife, but she’s an underdog. She eventually succeeds, learns to be courageous, and figures out who she’s supposed to be. Thank you, Pam Beesly, for showing us that gaining inner strength is possible.

4. The impossible is totally possible.
Every time you need to hype yourself up to go to the gym or finish that paper, think about this: Dwight Schrute finally became manager. FINALLY. He wanted that job all the way from the first episode of the entire series! If he can go from being assistant to the regional manager to actually becoming manager, you can study for your final.
5. You’ll end up with the right person (eventually).
Even though it was a long, meandering road to Jim and Pam getting together, it was so worth the wait. Although the quest to find your “one” may seem hopeless, let the couples of The Office prove you wrong. Pam & Jim, Michael & Holly, Dwight & Angela, even Phyllis & Bob Vance have found true love, so surely you will too. Just keep waiting, and have faith that it will happen. In the meantime, feel free to obsess over Pam and Jim’s adorable inside jokes and make them relationship goals.
