Hey you! Yeah, you! What are you waiting for, exactly? Why haven't you done it yet?
By now you'll be asking "who is this to?" It's to you, all of you. In everyone's life there is something that you have thought about doing but never did, whether it's asking someone out, trying a new activity, or straight up telling someone that you love them. My only advice to you is go for it. Every time there is a question of if it'll work out in your favor or not, the answer will always be no if you don't do anything about it.
"You miss 100 percent of the shots you don't take." -Wayne Gretzky
"By changing nothing, nothing changes." -Tony Robbins
"You must do the thing you think you cannot do." -Eleanor Roosevelt
These are just a few quotes to support what I am conveying to you. Sometimes you just need to put all of your fears aside and go for it. Living a life full of regrets isn't living a life at all. Instead of saying "what if?" you can change your ways and either get the answer you want, or just say "next time, it'll be better."
Now, I have been in situations where I haven't done anything about what I want and have thought for years about "what if," and it doesn't necessarily upset me, but at the same time it makes me think about all of the stuff that could have happened, and where my life would be at if I had done just gone for it. Said f*** it and just went for it. The possibilities are endless for how my life would have been different, but I didn't do anything, so therefore, it's not different. But I am now challenging myself to make that change, take that shot, and I challenge you to do the same.
Seriously, why waste your time thinking about it when you could actually be living the life that you've been dreaming about? Sure, of course, there is a chance you'll go for it and not get the answer you wanted, but in my mind it's better to live with the answer than to die with the question.
This is a prose poem about the concept of these situations written by myself:
Open Door.
Have you ever looked at someone and thought “I think I could love them?"
They’re just sitting there talking or playing with the fire with a stick, playing with your dog, watching a movie, laughing, or just on their phone.
But there’s just something about them in that moment that just consumes your mind in thoughts.
And you just sit there and look at them and think
“I really do love you.”
And that’s all you want to say, but you just don’t know if you should.
My advice is go for it.
Sometimes life’s an open door,
Sometimes it’s not,
And you’ll be scared to open it.
But you know what you have to do?
Kick that door down.
Today is the first day of the rest of your life. Go out, change, and just do it—whatever "it" may be.
