The 2016 Presidential Election has been filled with crazy, insane, and wild moments. Of course, there were also amazing, momentous highlights that brought out the best of this election season. Because this was my first presidential election where I had been able to vote, I had the ability to really let my voice be heard.

The months that have led to this moment has taught me a multitude of things. For once, it allowed to witness how our democracy works. I was finally able to cast my vote and let my beliefs and ideas be accurately expressed. This election showed me how everything truly works and what (and who) I should consider when casting my vote in any election.

Through the countless debates and speeches that I witnessed, I gained knowledge about different issues that were at the fore-front of the election this year. Topics such as immigration, gun control, and college tuition were just some of the many issues that were heavily discussed by the candidates. By listening to the candidates express their views on these issues, I was able to align myself with the one that mostly represented the same ideas and values as mine.

Sadly, this election also brought out hate and negativity for many. It revealed that we, the citizens of the United States of America, still have a long way to go until we have properly extinguished all the hate that has been built up by many. I learned that we need to help each other up, instead of pushing each other down.

Overall, my first presidential election has been an amazing learning experience. Voting for the first time allowed me to articulate my voice in a way that was never possible beforehand. My ideals and values helped me align with the candidate that matched the most within my ideas. Watching the debates and speeches encouraged me to form a proper stance on many controversial topics. It also made me aware of the laws and issues that were gonna be on the ballot within my community.

Lastly, the 2016 Presidential Election taught me that anything is possible if you put your mind to it. For the first time ever, a female candidate was named a major party nominee for president. This was a major accomplishment that truly broke the glass ceiling. In fact, we also had our first misogynistic, racist, talking cheeto running for president. Who could have expected that? And finally, I learned (and am proud to say), that for the 2016 Presidential Election, I'm with her!

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
