I know, you are probably thinking that this is going to be another clichè post since Thanksgiving is coming up. However, I think it is important to take some time out of your day, every so often, to step back and recognize what you are thankful for, and not just at Thanksgiving. This is something I strive to stay on top of and I suggest everyone try it. So, even though this may be a little cheesy, I believe it is a good idea to mention just a few of the many things that I am thankful for.
Let's start off with an obvious one, my family. I think that as I grow older and older each year, I become more and more blessed and thankful for the family that I have. I am more specifically thankful for my two wonderful parents. My parents and I have a very open and loving relationship, which makes my life even better. My mom and dad are constantly my biggest cheerleaders and I am forever thankful for that. Whenever I am feeling down or overwhelmed, I know for a fact that they will always be there encouraging me to push forward and strive for the best. They inspire me every single day to be a better person and to try and make the world a better place, and I know they will always support whatever decisions I make throughout my life.
I am also greatly appreciative and thankful for my education. Some people may think that is strange that I am mentioning this, but my education is something that I take very seriously. I love learning and being able to continue and further my education by going to college is something I will never take for granted. There are people who are not able to go to college and get a proper education due to financial reasons, so if you are gifted enough to do so, then you should never complain about it. I know that I am kind of a hypocrite for saying that because I will catch myself complaining about all the assignments I have to get accomplished, but then I realize that I am privileged enough to receive an education and it is worth all the hard work and dedication I put in.
This may be another obvious one, but I am extremely thankful for my job. I have held a few jobs so far in my life, but none compare to the job that I have now. I am a receptionist at a counseling center and I honestly believe it has changed me as a person, in a good way of course. It has given me great exposure to the mental health field, which is something I am passionate about. I also believe that everything happens for a reason and that I was meant to work with such great and kind-hearted people on a daily basis that guide me. Going to work, for some people, feels like a chore, but to me, it feels like another home and it is a great feeling.
Of course, I am thankful for several other things, but I will end with mentioning how grateful I am for my pets. I honestly believe that having a pet, or pets, can instantly brighten up your life. I have a cat and a dog and love them both equally because they are both crazy creatures. Whenever I am having a rough day, I know I get to come home to my favorite animals and they will always greet me with love and affection, which is one of the best feelings I must say. I feel like they know when I am feeling down and need a little boost in my day and that is so cute. Furry friends are the best of friends and sometimes that is all we need to make our lives better.
